Sammy comes to visit Logan at work and then they head back to Sammy's to make dinner. Making pasta is dangerous.

The line of people making slow progress around the assembly path for the Companion Creation Station seems cheerful enough with folks excitedly picking out their robot parts from feet/wheels and legs to torsos, heads, armatures, tails, and accessories. Each piece is put into their basket which moves along the conveyor toward the assembly 'machine' to be put together and delivered to them on the other end.
Logan is dressed as an automaton of some kind with face paint that adds to the illusion. His name tag is pinned to the lapel of his coat and his hands are covered in grey gloves as he helps with choosing which parts an individual wants, walking along with them through the whole process before sending their robot up to be built in the 'machine' and then presenting it to them at the end to take to the cashier.
Sammy is blessedly off work and up to no good. He did say he'd visit Logan at some point and well, that point is now. Middle of the afternoon. On a Monday. Pretending like he's one of the guests and probably sticking out like a sore thumb on account of his outfit. His pin-and-patch bedecked leather jacket has been zipped up against the chill, collar tugged upright. Black skinny jeans and suede boots stack below an eye-catching belt with multiple o-rings hanging off it. They clatter against the conveyor belt as he walks, dragging painted black nails through his hair.
To say it's difficult to recognize Logan in this setting is an understatement. Sammy's staring at each employee, squinting at name tags and trying his best until his eyes meet familiar gray ones and he smiles even before checking the name tag.
It's even more difficult since his hair is pulled back and up and tucked under his hat so it doesn't quite disrupt the whole "automaton" illusion without having to like slick it with an egregious amount of paint to make it look metallic. He spots Sammy before Sammy spots him and hands a finished robot to a little girl before he wanders over and says, "Welcome to the Companion Creation Station, where you can build the autonomic friend of your dreams. How can I help you today?" his voice taking on a somewhat robotic quality, staying in character even though he's grinning at Sammy. He is, after all, in the customer line and it's his job to see to the customers.
Sammy is indeed in the customer line and he's about to drop actual cash just for the honor of distracting Logan for however long this is about to take. Sometimes you gotta go all in on the shenanigans. "Well hi," he makes a show of reading Logan's name tag, then mispronounces it for the audacity, "Laggan. I'm here to make a new best friend. Like from scratch. Can you help me with that? People have told me I have high standards but I just think I know what I want?" The lopsided smile never leaves his face even as hazel eyes bounce around to study every inch of Logan's face paint.
"Hopefully we can create just the companion to meet your exacting standards," Logan says with an amused smile as he slips around to the other side of the counter and sets a basket onto the conveyor. "First, we will select the torso for your friend, something that says round and cute, perhaps?" He lifts a very round body with sockets for the head, limbs, etc. "Or perhaps something that says solid and reliable?" He chooses a more blocky, rectangular form. "Or maybe something slithery and sinuous?" This time, a more wiggly body that is segmented like a snake. There are a lot to choose from, and he waits at the station for Sammy to choose the first portion of his robot. "Perhaps if you tell me a little about what you're looking for in a companion, I can help. Though, if you already know what you want, feel free to direct me to choose exactly the parts you need."
Sammy tips his head in one direction when offered the round and cute torso. His head then tips towards the opposite side with the solid and reliable option. Still ANOTHER offering has his head going back to the first tilt. "Hmmmmm." He tippy taps a painted finger against his chin, actually thinking this one out. His mouth opens only for Logan to say that maybe instead he should say what he's looking for in a companion. Brows shoot upwards. A clever look appears on his face as his smile skews crooked again. "You're right. That's probably the best way to go about this, huh? Okay so...my...companion would have to be...extremely huggable. Like, so good at cuddling, you can't even imagine. They need to...laugh at all my jokes. Even the bad ones. They need to be smart and a little cunning and willing to get in trouble. So make them either good at running or funny since I hear that's the other way of getting out of a pickle. Oh, and when we get to eyes, if they're not blueish gray, don't even bother showing them to me."
Logan is doing his level best to remain as in character as possible while he helps Sammy with his purchase. There are, after all, other customers around and other coworkers who are doing the same along the same conveyor line, so he has to continue to play the part. Cuddling is a tall order for a robot and Logan actually looks over the bodies that are behind him thoughtfully as he finally chooses a shape that is smooth and curved for hugging. He's in the midst of turning back when the rest of what Sammy is saying filters through. "I am sure that your companion will happily laugh at all of your jokes," he assures him with a crooked grin. "And accompany you on any mischief that you'd like." He begins to move down the line to the next section when Sammy gets to being good at running or funny. It's about then that he clues in to what he's talking about and it is probably good that he's covered in face paint because his cheeks flush just a little bit and those blue grey eyes flicker to Sammy and then down at the robot parts in front of him. "Oh, well.. yeah, I will see what I can do, there.."
Sammy is very much trying his hardest to break Logan. This is why he shouldn't be allowed in places like this. And yet. Here goes a paycheck on a very specific robot that may or may not be somewhat based on Logan. It's a shame, really, to not get to witness a flush or fluster if there is one. The flicker of said blue-gray eyes clue Sammy in, but it's not nearly what he'd hoped. "I told you, not necessarily high standards...I just know what I want. BUT--" He takes a breath and puffs it out. "I'm nothing but amenable. I'll take whatever you have in stock. Any recommendations? What's the best seller companion around these parts?"
Logan chooses a somewhat rounded head with a pointed chin and sets it into the basket and then goes to choose a pair of eyes, which he brings over to let Sammy approve. "Like these?" he asks. They're a near perfect match to his own. If only the makeup wasn't hiding the flush in his cheeks, Sammy could see it. But it's definitely there. "They're all custom made," he explains. "So the best seller is the one that makes you the happiest." There certainly are some examples that are settled onto the shelves around the central display in the middle of the store but Logan isn't looking there at the moment. He seems focused on Sammy. "Besides, you shouldn't settle for any less than exactly what you want."
Sammy leans in a bit to look at the eyes Logan brings over. His gaze very clearly slips back to Logan's face, studying his eyes for a moment before returning to the offered pair. "Perfect. Nailed it. I'll tell your supervisors they need to give you a robot raise. Do you work for gears?" Lowbrow humor there as he smirks over at Logan but he seems to be enjoying this whole process, even if he's the oldest person in line right now. "Ah right, custom made. Yeah that makes sense." He had seen the display robots and maybe thought those were a model people could order. Silly thought. Which immediately slips out of his head when Logan adds that last bit. "You're right. Settling's beneath us. Plus...once you see what you want...it's hard to think of anything else."
"Peanuts," Logan says without missing a beat. "I thought they said nuts and bolts. Should have read the contract more closely." He flashes a smile. Then Logan moves along and chooses a hat for the robot that looks very much like his own. He sets that on top of the robot's head, and then it's a step along for some arms. He considers this thoughtfully and then offers a couple of arm choices to Sammy. "I think these are probably the most huggable arms that we have," he says, offering some bendable arms that do indeed look like they are capable of hugging. Then he smiles a little crookedly and says, "I think when you've decided what you want, anything else is a disappointment. And we would never want to see a customer disappointed."
That answer surprises a laugh out of Sammy. "Peanuts. Woah, geez. I hope they're honey roasted at least." He shuffles along sideways, rings on his belt clattering along. "Hmm. Oh yeah these bendy ones," a point to the more huggable option of arms. "Don't tell anyone this but I'm a huge fan of being little spoon." He flashes Logan a wolfish smile, gaze dropping to the other man's crooked one. "Well, Laggan," he's just sticking with it now, might as well, "you're doing a great job. I highly doubt I'm going to be disappointed by the end of this. Okay...that's not true. Because eventually I'll have to leave and you'll still be here for...how long exactly?"
"Nope. Still shelled and all. I have to crack them myself. I tried to explain that I am a highly sophisticated system, not a glorified nutcracker, but you know how it goes." His shoulders rise and fall with a little exaggerated sigh. The conversation gets an amused look from a parent nearby with their kid. The bendy arms go into the bucket. "Your secret is safe with me," he says at that wolfish smile, trying to school his own, though it's clear from the way that his lips twitch that it's taking some effort to do so. There's the faintest roll of his eyes at the mispronunciation of his name, but he manages to hold onto his composure otherwise. "I am allowed to leave the floor and recharge in approximately two hours," he says, moving a little further down the line. There, he chooses some legs for the robot. He holds up a set of fast-spinning wheels or a set of funny chicken feet, letting Sammy choose whether this robot is going to be fast or funny.
"Crack them yourself? In THIS economy?!" Sammy sounds completely shocked by that, even if it's highly put on and done for laughs. He spends a lingering moment studying how Logan seems to put real effort into schooling his expression. This has him raking his teeth over his bottom lip, holding back a brighter smile. "Two hours. That's so far from now," Sammy's not aboving pouting here, which he does. "What should I do for two hours? I'm open to ideas." Then, true to form, he chooses the funny chicken feet, gaze bouncing up to meet Logan's as if waiting for what comment this might bring up.
"Funny, not fast," Logan says when Sammy chooses the chicken feet, nodding in approval. It is what he claimed to be, after all. "If you can't outrun them, surprise them with shenanigans." He puts the feet into the tray. Then he picks up a couple of other items and drops them into the bin without comment and without asking Sammy at all whether he wants them as part of his robot. Then the tray is being whisked away, up into the assembly bot above, the lights lighting up, flickering, showing a completion bar as the gears whir and superfluous steam comes out of small pipes that have absolutely nothing at all to do with what's going on up there as some other worker just grabs the parts and puts the bot together behind the scenes, then puts it back in the tray fully assembled as it comes down the chute on the other side. "Could probably go see the circus show, or play games at the arcade, or win some sort of ridiculously sized prize at the midway," he suggests for things that one could do for two hours. "Or I could see if I could be allowed to recharge early."
"Hold on holdon holdonnnnnn what's all that--" Yep, Sammy's PAYING ATTENTION OKAY. "I'm not made of money here," he laughs as the tray gets whisked away anyway. But for the time being he's easily distracted by looking up at the assembly bot with all those lights flashing and flickering bar. He oooohs at the completion bar. Aaaahhs at the extra steam. The park really spared no expense at times like these. "Okay, that's pretty neat," he mumbles to himself, smirking. What does he know? Maybe it all IS magic? And here comes his new companion! He beams at it, then looks over at Logan, distracted yet again by all these options, one of which is recharging early. "Only if you want to see me real bad," he murmurs at a quieter volume, waiting for his new expensive toy to get handed over.
"That's the heart. It's no extra charge," Logan explains, pointing out the sign that shows the tiny bots are like $10, the medium ones are about $30, and the big ones are about $100. There are a couple of options and addons that will make all of them more expensive, but Logan didn't put any of those in Sammy's. He purposefully chose only items that would make the baseline. Yes, $30 isn't cheap, but he's not gouging him for whatever he can get. He watches as Sammy takes the bot in his hands. It does have a little compartment in the chest that is locked with a small key that is in a plastic pouch taped to the back. Once he hands it over he says, "I do.. wait for me outside?"
That's the heart. It's no extra charge. "God if that isn't the saddest thing I've heard all week." There's a sort of morbid laugh that goes with it as Sammy tips his head back for a second. "I mean, fair. I guess hearts are free. When it comes down to it." To be honest, he'd probably shell out for the $100 big boy robot if Logan made it for him. Sammy didn't exactly show up here today with the best plan in mind. He scoops up his new companion and gives him a proper hug. Just like he said he would. "Of course." Recharge early it is. Logan gets one more smile before Sammy shuffles off to go pay. And talk him up to his supervisor. The robot gets placed in a fancy bag with enough tissue paper to keep it safe on the ride home. Then Sammy stalks off to hold up the wall on the side of the building by the employee exit.
"Why?" Logan asks, "You wouldn't want a heartless one, would you?" Now that would be sad! Just like every build-a-bear comes with a heart. But once he's seen Sammy's robot safely into his arms, and grins a little when he hugs it, he slips away to go find his supervisor to see if he can get out early. It's a monday afternoon and it's not particularly busy, and he's been working all morning, so he's allowed to go. It takes a little while, since he has to go in back and change out of his uniform and wash all that makeup off his face. But he texts and lets Sammy he'll be out in a few, just so he knows he's coming.
When he does come out from around back, he's swapped into his street clothes and is wearing a pair of faded jeans, some sneakers, and an oversizd black hoodie that practically swallows him. But his face is scrubbed clean as he joins Sammy by the wall, leaning against it next to him. "Hey," he says.
"True, people wouldn't pay for one just to save a buck. I lied, that's the saddest thing I've heard all week." Amongst many other things. Sammy has no problem waiting for however long it takes, he has a phone and he's a pro at scrolling while looking utterly pissed to scare off any tourists who need someone to take a picture of them. That's not what he wants to be doing right now. What he wants is to tip his head towards Logan when he finally arrives, which he does, and smiles finally to boot.
"Hey. Thanks for making me a clone of yourself." Now his smile twists a tiny bit wicked.
"Minus the chicken feet, it's pretty accurate," Logan says with a crooked grin. If he were a toy robot. "Did you check inside?" he asks, wondering if Sammy had used the key to see what he'd snuck inside the robot. He settles in shoulder to shoulder and asks, "Are you off today? Or just on a break?" If Sammy had mentioned it when he'd arrived, Logan had forgotten, but he didn't think he had.
"Minus the chicken feet? UM." Sammy lets out a soft hissy laugh then looks down at Logan's shoes as if assessing the chicken quality of them. "Inside? Not yet..." Well color him distracted. He pulls out his Logan-bot, carefully peels up the taped pouch from the back to shake out the key. "I had the early shift so I'm completely free. Which is a shame 'cause you're just recharging but I'll take what I can get. Unless recharging means off?" He slips the key into the compartment's lock and turns it, tugs it open to see what's inside.
Logan's shoes do not look like they are concealing suspiciously shaped chicken feet, at least. He wiggles his toes within them demonstratively. But then he watches as Sammy takes out the key and opens up the compartment. Inside is the robot's heart. There's a little space there for it where it clips in. So apparently it does come pretty standard with all of them. The heart itself opens up, a little red heart-shaped plastic case. Inside the case are a trio of small charms. One is a stylized L. One is a stylized S. The other is a couple of nuts and bolts. "Recharging means off. The whole 'lore' is that we just go back into our recharging stations in the back. That's where we 'live'. Those of us who are robots."
Sammy of course opens up the little heart when he realizes that it can be. His smile immediately softens when he see the L and the S, along with the nuts and bolts. "Logan..." he murmurs as he runs a finger down the letters before snapping the heart closed again. "This is..." Great? Amazing? Sammy's face holds onto a certain degree of fondness as he puts the robot away to properly look at its human counterpart. "So you're off, then. Good. Come back to my place? I'll put on a movie and make early dinner and I won't have to worry about cursing in front of children."
Was Logan holding his breath a little bit while Sammy opened up the heart and looked inside? Maaaaaybe. Does he breath out a little sigh of relief when Sammy actually likes it? Yes, yes he does. He's quick to nod when Sammy invites him back to his place. "Yeah, sounds good." Then he laughs a little at not having to worry about cursing in front of children. "Man, you and me both." And he gets a lot more children looking for robots than they probably get in the occult shop. Pulling away from the wall, he gladly starts to head back toward the ferry terminal.
Sammy catches that sigh of relief and honestly? It just makes him smile that much wider. He's still leaning against the wall, so when Logan pulls away, he has to snatch his wrist at the last second to pull him back. "One second." So it's more than just a little tug, it's enough to get Logan here, in Sammy's airspace, chests inches away from crashing into each other. The height difference is lessened with his lean against the wall, making them more or less eye level. "I meant what I said," he murmurs, eyes fully dropping to look at Logan's mouth. "I know what I want. Do you?"
He wasn't expecting the sudden tug and so he finds himself almost stumbling back into Sammy, his hand coming up to brace himself by grabbing onto his shoulder. There's a curious, questioning look in his eyes when he's pulled back, but he doesn't fight it at all. He's not going anywhere. "What's.." he starts to ask but then when Sammy says that he meant what he said, Logan's mind races back to all the things that they said to figure out which one he might be referring to. But Sammy doesn't leave him long to wonder. That little flush that he couldn't see under all the makeup returns. But Logan doesn't hesitate to answer. "Yeah, I do."
The shadow of a smile appears on Sammy's face when Logan has to grab his shoulder to stabilize himself. As if adding this much more contact between them is a happy accident. Hazel eyes drift back up to witness the flush, finally. It's a treat to see Logan react like this. "Okay. Just checking." He slowly releases Logan's wrist, dragging his fingertips down into Logan's palm to then gently curl around Logan's fingers, interlacing them lazily. It's only now that Sammy steps back, shoes scuffing along the pavement, to stand up properly at his full height. "Alright, now we can go." What a tease of closeness only for Sammy to tug Logan towards the ferry, bag in tow.
Logan's fingers slip through Sammy's and he lets them tangle there. And when Sammy steps back, he lets his hand drop from his shoulder, straightening as well. But he doesn't let go, letting himself be tugged in the direction of the ferry with a little laugh that is as much amusement as it is a release of momentary tension. "NOW we can go," he says with a little shake of his head, but the smile is still there as he follows along.
It's a quiet ride back on the ferry to the island. Logan just settles against the railing and leans his shoulder against Sammy's, letting the sound of the engine and the water drown out everything for a little while. It's only when they get to the door and Sammy actually needs his hand to get his key and let them in that Logan releases it, stepping back to wait for a moment while the door's open before heading inside.
Teasing someone through the entire robot building pipeline is one thing. Holding hands throughout the park and on the ferry and all the way back to Sammy's apartment is a different thing entirely. The little smile which verges on the dumb sort stays plastered on his face the whole time.
He's even reluctant to let go of Logan's hand when he needs to open the door. But open it does. And boots get kicked off, lights turned on, the bag with his companion placed on the kitchen counter. Maybe Sammy didn't make a peep about Logan's apartment because his is also severely under-furnished. There's a thrifted couch and a coffee table, no rug. The living room is in dire need of that rug. From what can be seen through the open door of his bedroom, it looks more of the same though at least there's an attempt with dark gray curtains and a matching bed linen set. Poster tubes are stacked against one wall along with some boxes. A flat pack of Ikea shelves is tucked into a corner.
"Please excuse the mess," he huffs. "Haven't really had a chance to decorate yet but I'll knock it out one of these weekends. What kind of food do you like? I can make pasta or we could order something and get it delivered?"
Logan's own smile hasn't faded throughout the entire journey. When he makes his way into the apartment he takes off his own shoes and pulls the hoodie off over his head, leaving him in a t-shirt underneath that is a pale grey with the creation station logo on it. Running his fingers through his hair, he pushes it over to one side and then slips his hands into his pockets. "Uh, well, you've seen my room. I'm not gonna razz anybody else's place." The living room probably has Damian's furniture in it, at least.
He drifts after Sammy as they make their way inside and says, "I like pretty much anything that doesn't bite me first," when it comes to food. "Pasta's good. I like pasta. Or delivery if you don't feel like cooking." He sure isn't going to demand that Sammy cook for him.
"Thanks. I know. It's just...three months. Some people expect me to be more settled or whatever. Who cares, it's just down to posters and weird occult knickknacks. A boy can't have too many Ouija boards, right?" Sammy flashes a smile at Logan, then sidesteps into the kitchen to do a quick inventory that he does indeed have enough to make pasta. "Okay so he doesn't like fishing, got it." Said with a smirk as he leans back out of the fridge and closes it. "I do want to cook for you. Not to impress you or anything, it's gonna come from a jar, okay? But I don't mind it. And you're probably gonna be all Sammy ohmygod you're such a good cook anyway." His grin stretches wider as he steps closer to Logan. "Want anything to drink?"
Logan wanders over to the kitchen to lean against a counter somewhere presumably out of the way, though he'll probably have to move at some point since he doesn't know where everything is to be out of the way. Still, he watches as Sammy pokes around and shrugs his shoulders, "It's your place. Figure you get to choose how long it takes you to set it up however you like." He's sure not going to complain. Sammy actually has a couple of pieces of furniture. That seems to rate just fine in his book.
"Only when it's you fishing for compliments," Logan says with a smirk of his own in retort. Then his smile softens and goes a little crooked, "Okay, that you want to cook for me kind of impresses me anyway, no matter what it ends up being." As Sammy steps closer he nods just a little bit. "Yeah, what do you have?"
"Oh ho ho ho ho noooo no, come over here sous chef. I did make it sound like I was just going to cook for you but I should have been more clear, I'm cooking with you." Sammy grins from ear to ear, a little mischievous glint lightening up his hazel eyes into that blue territory. "Still impressed? Less so now that you have to work? Pots are down there." He points to a bottom cabinet. He barks out a laugh when Logan brings up fishing for compliments. "Glad that's okay." Then he's off to the fridge, pulling it open again. "Beer. Soda. I can open wine." With that question out, he tacks on a few more. "Pesto? Marinara? Thoughts on mushrooms?"
"You literally said you wanted to cook FOR me," Logan points out. But he doesn't complain about being put to work either. He cooked some in the places he stayed over the years. Not much. But he probably won't kill them. Probably. He reaches under for a pan and gets out a pot that looks about the right size for boiling pasta. That goes on the stove. "Do you want one for sauce too?" He has no idea if Sammy's a throw the pasta in a strainer while you heat the sauce in the pot then throw the pasta back into it guy or not.
"Sodas good," Logan says. Then he takes the pasta pot and starts filling it with water to an acceptable height to throw pasta into. He can boil water relatively safely. He throws a little salt into it. "I like mushrooms. Marinara with mushrooms."
"Verbiage!" Sammy quips right back even though Logan's totally right here. If anything, it seems like Sammy's flying by the seat of his pants right now, less out of nerves and more out of simmering excitement that Logan's here. With him. In his place. "Oh the strainer is down there too. Less to clean." Not really, it's just switching a strainer with a pan but at least it feels nicer. "I won't make you do too much. Just get the water going and then you can be moral support."
He reaches into the fridge and pulls out a soda for Logan and a beer for himself, placing both on the counter. Then out comes the shrink wrapped container full of pre-chopped mushrooms. Sammy's the type to pay more for less work. "Marinara with mushrooms coming up." A jar of sauce gets pulled out of the pantry along with a box of penne. "Can I tell you something incredibly stupid?"
Logan really doesn't seem to mind helping at all. He fetches the strainer and sets it in the sink as he works on getting the water boiling. There's not much to do at that point other than simply lean against the wall or counter out of the way. He grins a little and says, "I don't mind helping. Just tell me what you need me to do." He pauses. "And where to find the things to do it."
He takes the soda that's on the counter and opens it, taking a small sip as he watches the mushrooms and sauce come out. "Sure?" he says, curious as to what it is that Sammy thinks is so stupid.
"Of course. I don't play the role of chef often but when I do, I pride myself in being as bossy as possible." Sammy tilts his head to one side, glancing sidelong at Logan from under his bangs as he pops the lid on the jar of pasta sauce. "Okay so..." the lid gets tossed into the bin, then he pivots to balance a hip against the counter.
"You made my fucking day with that robot. With the...initials. And now...I'm dying over here wanting to kiss you so goddamn bad but trying to make it through dinner. Or at least through the mushrooms at least."
"I think that's kind of part of being a chef, isn't it?" Logan asks with a little grin when Sammy says he prides himself on being as bossy as possible. He takes another sip from the can of soda then sets it down on the counter, hands in his pockets. That smile grows when Sammy says that he made his day with the little robot and the initials that he'd tucked inside it.
The flush touches his cheeks just a little bit when Sammy says that he wants to kiss him, but the grin doesn't ebb at all. Instead he reaches up and runs his fingers through his hair, pushing it back a little bit even though he knows it'll just fall back into place. Then he pauses and asks, "Wait.. why the mushrooms?" Then he pushes past that, "I want to kiss you, too." Not that he moves from where he is, because there's the matter of the mushrooms. But he just wanted to make that part clear.
"Yes, from what I've read on the internet," Sammy muses. He keeps glancing back at Logan, even if he's pretending to watch the water boil. Which is, in reality, the actual stupid thing he's doing. Eventually he reaches over to fiddle with the beer can, pulling at the tab with a fingertip but not actually opening it. He's waiting for Logan's response in earnest.
The flush is a good sign? Maybe? It makes Sammy's stomach tighten for a split second before easing up again. He matches Logan's grin, even going as far as running his own fingers through his hair instinctively. Why the mushrooms? "In case..." but it doesn't matter. Logan's saying he wants to kiss him too and the mushrooms suddenly seem unimportant. He steps forward into Logan's space, breath held, then reaches up to brush some of Logan's hair to the side (which flops right back into place). "Okay yeah fuck the mushrooms." With a slow enough speed to let Logan opt out if he decides to, Sammy leans in to press a soft kiss to his lips.
Logan may never know why the mushrooms were even in question. He's pretty sure he doesn't care when Sammy's right there in front of him and he's looking up at him this close. There's no attempt to move away at all. To the contrary. Logan catches the front of Sammy's shirt with his fingers curling in it and lightly tugs him closer. And when their lips meet, he leans into that kiss, tipping his head back a little and just enough so that their noses brush without colliding. He doesn't let go of Sammy's shirt either, even after that soft kiss breaks. He doesn't draw back though, instead leaning up for another one.
Mushrooms, sauce, pasta, all of it forgotten in the moment. It feels surreal, to be here, in Sammy's apartment, kissing him. If anyone told him a week ago that he'd be here right now, he would not have believed them. And when the kiss breaks, he says "I figured.. it was a little bit of both of us. We built it together. It should have a little bit of both of us in its heart," in explanation of the initials in the robot.
Sammy presses in closer as he's tugged by his shirt, one hand finding the edge of the counter next to Logan's hip to cage him in from that side. A soft, contented sort of hum filters into the kiss, gentle as it is. There's no hesitation either. Sammy's lips are there, tender yet insistent, hinting at heat rising just below the surface. When it breaks, he doesn't bother moving and just looks down at Logan with newfound wonder twinkling in his eyes. One side of his mouth curves into a smile as Logan initiates the second kiss. This one's a little firmer with Sammy pressing in closer. His lips part, deepening it just enough to flick his tongue against Logan's.
Surreal is an understatement. Sammy's really starting to believe in this whole destiny thing. He pulls back just enough to give Logan room to talk but also lowers his free hand to grip the other side of the counter next to Logan's opposing hip. "A little bit of both of us in its heart..." he echoes softly. "I like that. You. I like you too."
Logan's lips part on that second kiss, welcoming the flick of Sammy's tongue, a light brush of his own following in turn. He gradually lets go of the front of Sammy's shirt, smoothing it lightly with his fingertips and then letting his hand slip down to Sammy's side, just resting there. His free hand lifts to run fingertips through Sammy's hair, keeping it back a little bit so that he can look into his eyes.
"I like you, too," Logan says with a little grin. "A lot." He tucks those few strands of hair behind Sammy's ear and says, "So umm.. you wanna go out? With me? Like.. in general.. not right now. Because mushrooms." He can't help but bring the mushrooms back up, grinning a little.
Slowly but surely, Sammy presses in ever closer until their legs touch and he's able to lightly pin Logan against the counter. His expression remains fond, eyes glued to Logan's mouth as he speaks. It's commanding all of his attention at the moment.
"Oh good," he rasps out through a laugh. "I was hoping you would." His lips part just at Logan's jaw, letting warm breath pool for a second while he decides whether he's had his fill of kissing or if mushrooms are really going to distract him. "Yeah...I wanna go out with you. I'm also thinking these mushrooms need to wait...at least a minute." Decision made. He catches Logan's mouth for another kiss, this one burning up around the edges with barely suppressed heat.
Logan is exactly where he wants to be when Sammy pins him lightly against the counter. His hand drops to Sammy's hip and pulls him just that much closer while he decides whether mushrooms are going to distract him or not. "Good," Logan laughs, in an echo of Sammy just moments ago. "I was hoping you would." And then he's more than willingly leaning into that kiss, letting it deepen.
Is the water boiling? Maybe. If it is, he's forgotten about it entirely in the heat of the kiss. He's far too busy getting lost in the feeling of Sammy pressed close against him, of his lips moving against his own, the brush and tease of their tongues against one another, and the dark soft hair between his fingers.
The water is boiling but that's not all that's boiling here. Sammy can feel his body temperature shoot up as his fire courses through his veins, flared up by every single touch of Logan's fingers. He inhales sharply through his nose, as if a proverbial match has just been struck and can't possibly be snuffed out for something as petty as mushrooms.
He shifts, lowering slightly to grab hold of Logan's waist to hoist him up to sit on the counter. The kiss only breaks long enough to get the other man situated, then Sammy's back, wedging in close between Logan's legs and wrapping his arms around him.
Logan lets out a little surprised laugh when Sammy picks him straight up off the ground and onto the counter, but he settles there, making room for him between his knees. Both hands slide into Sammy's hair, cupping either side of his face lightly as he leans in to kiss him again, that heat ramping up very quickly. Now that he's started, he doesn't seem inclined to want to stop. Dinner be damned, he's much more hungry for this -- Sammy's arms around him, and those heated kisses. Fortunately they've got some time before that boiling pot becomes a problem.
A grin sparks like wildfire on Sammy face when Logan laughs like that. The sound does something to him in a way he's never felt before. It makes his insides burn up all at once, a giddy, butterfly feeling taking root. His hands slide up Logan's back, gentle yet incredibly firm at the same time. With Logan on the counter, Sammy's no longer at a height advantage and actually has to tilt his head a bit to kiss him. It only draws out a contented little hum, trailing along as his tongue explores Logan's mouth, mapping it like uncharted territory. He lets it linger, perhaps selfishly, until he's left panting and pressing his forehead against Logan's cheek.
"Holy shit..."
Logan lets out a low little groan into that kiss as Sammy's hands slide up his back with that firm touch. He has the fingers of both hands buried in Sammy's hair, feeling the soft strands slip through them as he leans down just a little bit into that kiss. The flush that touches his skin has nothing to do with embarrassment now. His tongue welcomes Sammy's, brushing against it, teasing lightly, letting him explore as much and as long as he wants. Selfish though it may be, it's exactly what Logan wants. And when the kiss breaks, he draws in a ragged breath and then grins, brushing his nose against Sammy's hair. "You can say that again," he breathes.
Sammy's heartbeat drums loudly in his ears from the headrush. His eyes drift closed as he revels in the feeling of Logan nuzzling up into his hair. It takes a moment of focusing on his breathing, the warmth of Logan's body under his hands, for Sammy to realizing the other noise in the distant background. It's fuzzy. With ever waning thump of his heartbeat it becomes clearler. Boiling water. Almost boiling OVER water.
"AH fuck!" He lurches sideways, snagging the handle and lifting the pot to another burner before catastrophe strikes. They were blessed by timing, one more second and CARNAGE. The frenzy of it has him laughing as he leans back to press his face into Logan's chest. "That was a close one."
Logan takes a moment to catch his breath when suddenly Sammy lurches over to the side and he jumps, leaning back quickly and smacking his head into the cabinet above him since he's no longer leaning forward. "Fuck," he blurts out, reaching up to rub the back of his head a little. But once the pan is safely on another burner and the burner is turned off, he laughs. And with Sammy's head resting against his chest, he wraps both arms around his shoulders and rests his cheek on top of his head, shoulders shaking a little as he laughs. "Whoops. Maybe.. uh.. the pasta and mushrooms should wait for another time?"
"Shit, are you okay?" Sammy's still laughing helplessly as Logan wraps his arms around him. Though he could stand here being embraced like this with Logan's cheek pressed atop his head forever, he feels really bad now. "Should I look at it? Do you have a concussion? Lemme look, Logan." He tips his head up and tilts it a bit, one hand lifting to gently cup the back of Logan's head. "Man, I know it's been a while since I've made out with someone but I don't remember it being so dangerous?" He kisses Logan's cheek, grinning into it.
"Yeah, I'm fine," Logan laughs, clearly fine enough to be laughing about it, at any rate. He loosens his grip on Sammy enough that he can check his head, but he's fine. He just smacked it. There won't even be a bump or a bruise. And, he's grinning amusedly. "I didn't hit it that hard. There's no little stars or twittering birds around my head." And that could probably happen in this place. Then he starts laughing anew. "For real." He turns his head a little and kisses Sammy's temple. "Okay, crisis averted. What do you say we uh, get take out and make out on the couch?"
Sammy can't fight the urge to fuss over it. "You sure?" He sifts his fingers into Logan's hair and gives him scalp a gentle massage. "You can milk this for like the rest of the night, you suuuuuuure?" A grin appears on his face, cheeky and playful. "Fine. No stars or birds." He gives one last rueful look at the pot of hot water, then nods at the new plan. "Deal. Who wants mushrooms anyway? Not me. Pizza?" Reluctantly, he steps back to let Logan hop off the counter.
Logan laughs and leans in to Sammy, letting him fuss for a few moments, but not for very long. "Yeah, I'm sure." He won't milk it now but it will definitely come up in stories later. But for now, he slides down off of the counter a little reluctantly and makes sure things are turned off. "Wanna order while I put things away? I like most combos. Veggie. Meat. Supreme. Hawaiian. Spicy." He goes to find the lid for the sauce and washes it off in the sink thoroughly before drying it and putting it back on the jar, which goes in the fridge now that it's open, and the mushrooms get put away, too.
"Yeah, I can do that," Sammy says with a lopsided smile. "One veggie meat supreme Hawaiian spicy coming right up." He's kidding. Mostly. There's about to be a lot of toppings on this pizza. Tugging out his phone, he starts dialing the number, then pauses to plant a kiss on the side of Logan's neck quickly. "Sorry, couldn't help it." He bites back a grin and shuffles away to the other side of the counter to keep his hands to himself.
Once the order's in, he brings a large fleece blanket out of his bedroom and tosses it on the couch. It's about to get hella comfy up in here. "Should we even pretend to watch a movie or?"
"Oh no," Logan says after the kiss, grinning over at Sammy, sounding not even a little bit distressed. He gets the kitchen back in order and then brings their drinks out to the living room so that they can have them there as they await the pizza. The big fleecy blanket gets a thumbs-up from Logan. Definitely approved. The question gets a laugh though and he glances at the television and then back to Sammy. "I can pretty much guarantee I won't be able to tell you what movie was on TV later."
