Dodge's magical abilities thus far include:
Empathy - The first of Dodge's abilities to reveal itself, which happened while she was in the audience for a performance at Lamplight Theatre.
Familiar - Not long after discovering her Empathy, a great horned owl and a large black and brown dog began following her everywhere.
Control Shadow - Finally, Dodge realized she had the ability to control shadows while deep in her work in the photography studio's dark room.

Koda is a certified Good Boy. His breed is not exactly clear, though he appears to be a cross between some kind of large hunting dog, a rottweiler, and a labrador. Either way, he's typically on-hand to harvest attention from whomsoever might be inclined to give it.
Poe is a grumpy gus of a great horned owl and prone to flying overhead of Dodge to keep an eye on her. She very much treats (and thinks of) Dodge as an errant owlet that Poe and Poe alone can protect, and can be heard hooting and fussing at Dodge through her second story window at all hours of the night, much to her neighbors' chagrin.

They've stocked their boat as if for a party, but they're still hoping to catch sight of the Serpent again, even if it looks like a thinly veiled excuse for some fun out on the water rather than an actual research effort. Carmine, Damian, Hayley, and Micah join them for an afternoon of sun, fun, and a search for the prettiest Serpent any of them have ever seen.
