Byline - Edward Lightner used to be a big name, connected to some of the top stories and photos coming out of various war zones.
Awarded - It's not a Pulitzer, but Edward Lightner won a Robert Capa Gold Medal for dangerous photography abroad.
Burnout - Eddie has lost his ambition. He is perfectly fine taking tourist pictures at a theme park, especially since he got a little bonus for bringing all his own photography gear.
Punchclock - Eddie is not one to do more work than he has to. He'll be a charming(ish) artiste while he's on the job, and then he's done with anything that requires work.
Curious - About the only time Eddie is interested in doing any sort of work off work hours is when something tickles his atrophied curiosity.
Caffeinated - It takes go-juice to get Eddie going in the morning. Black, light and sweet, it doesn't matter, as long as it has lots of caffeine and it's marginally hot.
Tabasco - Don't be offended (or do) when Eddie adds Tabasco sauce to food he's eating. It's not you, it's him -- and habits left over from US military-supplied food.
Edward Simon Lightner was born and raised on a series of Army bases around the United States and the world.
Instead of joining the service himself, he became a photojournalist, documenting what those servicepeople did and experienced.
Nearly died as a combat correspondent. Won an award. Nearly died again. Decided he wasn't going back out again.
Was sinking into a cannabis-scented puddle on his couch at home when a friend sent him the job opening for park photographer as a joke.
Took it because it wasn't something he would have to think about.
There are certainly people who would recognize his full name, some of whom would mock him mercilessly for what he's doing now, some of whom would try to figure out what's wrong with him. There might be some service-people who would know him from those couple of times when things got really bad.
As magic continues to prove to be really real, his curiosity is likely to be sparked and he'll likely want to figure out what, why, when, who, where, and how... but for now he just wants to collect a paycheck, relax, and please not get vomited on by a little kid again.
A tall man somewhere in his thirties with the fading remains of a deep tan lending some color to his otherwise pale skin. His dark brown hair boasts the remains of a sharp undercut, his short beard is passably neat, his nose long and straight, and his lips slightly thin, and his brows dark over nearly-black eyes that often shift radically between hyperfocused and lost in thought. He typically wears jeans, t-shirts, and a battered leather jacket when he isn't working, and some variation of the park staff uniform when he is. When he's on duty he also carries a collection of cameras, mostly digital.
