Horny - no, really...: The first thing that most people inevitably notice about Knox are the pair of massive bull horns growing out of the sides of his head. They look pretty intimidating, but Knox himself is well known as a gentle giant. A country boy at heart, he's especially great with animals, and likes nothing better than being outside with his dog, working with the park's horses.

Farrier: With the carriages and the pony rides and the medieval jousting, the islands have a pretty large horse population. Enough so that the services of a full-time farrier are needed. Knox spends the majority of his days around the stables, ensuring the horses' feet are kept in top-notch condition, though he's always happy to help with other general tasks as well.

Grillmaster: Whenever the grill gets fired up, you can bet Knox will never be far off! Knox loves nothing more than a cookout, and his bourbon-glazed brisket has earned legendary status among park employees, ensuring he's always at the top of the guest list. The good news is that he's always happy to share and never turns up empty handed.

Big Sports Fan: Knox played football at High School and is a die-hard supporter of both the Denver Broncos and Montana Grizzlies. He’s always looking for buddies to toss a ball around or come watch the upcoming game with him. He can usually be counted upon to bring enough wings to feed a small army, all made to his patented and top secret recipe.

Dog Dad: Rufus is an oversized shaggy mutt that Rufus rescued from a local shelter not long after he arrived at the park. It was love at first sight, and these days its rare to see Knox without his big ol' dog close at hand. They're commonly seen out for an early morning run, after which Rufus spends most of the day curled up somewhere warm near the forge while Knox works.

Volunteer Firefighter: When he’s not working with the horses or grilling up a feast, Knox has recently started helping out as a volunteer firefighter on Crescent Island. Whether he's helping [ut out a small brush fire, wrangling a kitty out of a tree, or dealing with an actual emergency, he’s always eager to help, putting his strength and bravery to good use.

Knox Mercer is a young man in his early twenties, standing well over six feet tall, with a muscular build that speaks of a life spent working outdoors. His most striking feature is the pair of massive, curved bull horns that extend from the sides of his head, making him easy to pick out in a crowd. His dark, slightly messy hair frames a handsome face with warm brown eyes, and a faint perpetual scruff along his jawline.

He tends to dress practically in well-worn jeans, sturdy boots, and flannel or plain T-shirts. All sturdy and good for the outdoors, though it’s clear Knox takes care to stay looking clean and presentable from day to do. His posture is confident but unassuming, and there is a deliberate quality to his movements, as though he's always worried about knocking something over.
