The big, open, flat roof of Tarjay is SCREAMING to have a game of field hockey played on its surface, or so think Zack and Percy. Look at it! Perfect surface for skating. All of this makes perfect sense.

System Information
  • Beverage Goblin: Collector of Mugs and Water Bottles, Percy often has several around him and at least one on his person at any given time. There may be almost any drinkable beverage in any or all of them at any given time.

  • British: If it isn't obvious by his speech or his name, Percy is from the UK, Great Britain to be exact.

  • Teacher: Percy teaches History at the High School on the Island. He's also a Theatre Advisor there. Want tutoring to help get your GED or want a College paper checked over? He can help!

  • Pet Bird: Percy has a pet Blue and Yellow Macaw who is about 15 years old named Junie-Bean ('Junie' for short). She seems to enjoy making up her own Shakespeare monologues and Broadway-style Songs...complete with British Accent.

  • Voracious Reader: And now that he is able to read things in many different languages, he's trying to read as much as he can, in its original language!

  • How To Train Your...Dragon?: Thanks, New Year's Magic. Percy now has iridescent dragon scales on his forearms and at his hairline. What could possibly be next??

"Hey, Mr. B...is now a good time for the interview?" 9th Grade English Class was discussing Journalism and Journalistic writing. Their assignment was to come up with Interview questions and find someone to interview for their article.

"Hi, Lexi, sure! Come on in!" Lexi had her choice of desks to sit at, but, as usual, Percy Bridgewater never bothered actually sitting behind his own desk. Instead, he hopped up to sit at the front of his desk, his feet barely touching the floor...if they even did. "I'm honored to help you with your project. Ask away." Luckily, it wasn't a project for one of his classes or that might have been a bit awkward.

"What is your name and where were you born?"

"Percival Edmond Bridgewater and I was born in London, England...In the United Kingdom."

"Do you have any Siblings? Are your parents still together?"

"I do. I'm the oldest of three. My parents are divorced, but amiable. A-m-i-a-b-l-e. It means they're friendly with each other even if they're no longer married."

"Why are you here in the US? And why here on Crescent Island?"

"Well, this is where the jobs were. Also, the best films about teaching are set here. Except for two. But -most- of them are. I'm joking. Kind of. There's also something to be said about going new places and living somewhere you've never lived in before. And I don't just mean the next town or the next state away. Go somewhere you've never been, on your own. It's amazing what you can learn about your new home and about yourself when you do that. I may go back, but for now, I'm quite happy here, I think. Also, it's a rare thing to be able to be a part of a brand new school. The allure was quite strong. I don't regret my decision to come here." Yet.

"What do you think of the Magic stuff that's been going on?"

"...That's an excellent question. I'm not sure. Part of me wants to find some sort of reason for it...to dig down and find the 'Why'. I suppose that's why I love teaching. I want to learn myself and help others in their own journey to finding out 'Why'. But then another part of me is giddy that Magic is real. That I, myself, have been touched by just a little of that Magic. I never stopped believe in Magic and if you look hard enough, even outside of this collection of islands, you can see it. It hides in the sunlight warming a Spring Day; in the instant that a pet is adopted from a shelter. It hides in a smile or a kind word. Here, it's just more visible. More tangible. But it doesn't make those hidden Magics any less...perhaps it even make it stronger, since it's so often not seen for what it truly is."

Poor Lexi wasn't expecting that sort of an answer. She blinks a few times at the teacher before going back to her written questions.

"Do you have any pets?"

"I do. I have a Blue and Yellow Macaw named Junie-Bean. She's fifteen years old, as best as we figured. Around your age, I suppose."

"Do you have any Secrets?" Lexi actually grins, knowing that the question will be met with resistance. Maybe it was suggested by her teacher, maybe by her friends, maybe she's really working towards becoming a Gossip Journalist?

Percy watches Lexi for a long moment before he offers, "I've never been on a roller-coaster before." There may be other secrets, but that one seemed appropriate for an interview given by a teenager.

"Why do you teach History?"

"History is...how we think. How we create. We look to History for answers...or even, perhaps, what our answers should -not- be. It flavors what we wear, what we eat, how our languages work, how we live our lives. It lives long and deep and rich in every culture and every country and city and town and family. It's neverending and it is so important that we look to History to advise us. To teach us. To help us be better moving forward as we each witness and create our own history."

Yet another answer that Lexi wasn't quite prepared for.

"Uhm. What's your favorite kind of music?"

"Glam Rock. And Broadway. And Pop Punk. And Goth Metal like Nightwish and Evanescence."

Poor Lexi.

"Uhm. What's one of your Life Goals?"

"To compete on Jeopardy."

Standing at about 5'5" he isn't what anyone would consider a tall man, but his frame seems rather solid. If it wasn't for the five o'clock shadow and wisdom that comes from age in his blue eyes, he might be mistaken for one of his students. Dark brown hair is thick and full with a slight wave. With a square jawline and elfin features, he often holds an impish grin and the mirth of life in his eyes. Indeed, when he smiles, the corners of his eyes crinkle despite his age.

He tends to dress fairly casually, even when in the classroom, which likely doesn't help with the comparison to his students. He does seem to have a collection of Literary and Hisorical 'Geeky' t-shirts which get rotated through his wardrobe. When he speaks, his voice is a medium tenor with a strong British (BBC) accent.
