Control Light

Description

This ability allows the individual to manipulate, control, and create light. From small orbs of light that follow the individual to multicolored moving light shows, the individual can create lights for the purpose of illumination and entertainment or to blind enemies in combat. At higher levels, the user can bend the way light reflects in order to conceal areas, items, creatures, or individuals.

A roll is needed to determine the number of light sources at level 2 and the duration of concealment at level 3. No roll is required to create the single floating light source at level 1.

Light sources have the power of a strong flashlight individually. In the case of a great or amazing success, the individual can choose to combine these into one stronger light source such as a spotlight or a floodlight.

Success Levels:

  • Success: Up to two light sources at level 2. Up to 5 minutes of concealment at level 3.
  • Good Success: Up to four light sources at level 2. Between 15 minutes to an hour of concealment at level 3.
  • Great Success: Up to eight light sources at level 2. Between an hour to a couple of hours of concealment at level 3.
  • Amazing Success: Up to sixteen light sources at level 2. Up to several hours at level 3.

Limits

All light effects must be maintained within line of sight to remain in effect. Only one area, item, creature, or individual may be actively concealed by an individual at a time. Light effects will end when the individual stops concentrating, chooses to end the effect, or leaves line of sight.

Levels
1 The individual may create a ball of light that floats nearby and illuminates an area directly around them. The light moves with the individual and remains close to them until extinguished. They may also change the color and diffusion of existing light in an area, making the light take on different qualities such as a soft golden glow, stark white, eerie red, etc.
2 The individual may create multiple balls of light, manipulate where they are located, and move them around within line of sight. Light can be any color or combination of colors and may change colors as desired. At this level, the individual can also create a flash of light used to stun enemies in combat.
3 The individual may manipulate the way light bends in order to make an area, item, creature, or individual near-invisible for a duration of time outlined above. Moving, or any offensive action will break concealment.

Combat System

Level 2 or higher in Control Light grants access to a "Disorient" weapon that is used to distract a target.

  • You may equip the "combat/weapon disorient" weapon.
  • You will then use "combat/distract target" to use it. This weapon is not used for attacks, only distracting.

With Control Light Level 3, the "Hidden" combat stance may be used to conceal the target(s) of this ability on a successful roll; however, any movement or offensive action taken will break the concealment.
