This ability allows the individual to perform shadow plays by manipulating shadows, using them to make targeted attacks more difficult, and even take on a shadow form that is hard to identify and can easily move between shadows. The one using the ability has a limited degree of resistance to their own shadows, so even when plunging an area into darkness, they may still be able to see through their own shadows a little better than others.
A roll must be made to determine the area of effect in which shadows may be manipulated.
Success Levels:
While shadows may obscure others, the shadow form ability is only usable by the individual, themselves. Shadows can be manipulated so long as they remain within line of sight, the individual maintains concentration, or until they drop the effect.
| Levels | |
|---|---|
| 1 | The individual can lengthen, deepen, animate, and darken existing shadows within an area. These shadows can be used to make the individual and those within harder to see so long as they don't move outside of the area of effect. There must be pre-existing shadows in the area to be used for this purpose. |
| 2 | The individual can plunge even a well-lit area into darkness, causing darkness to manifest even where it would not be possible. These shadows will make those within harder to attack from the outside. At this level, an individual can 'teleport' from shadow to shadow within line of sight, stepping into one and out of another without a roll. |
| 3 | The individual may take on a shadowy physical form that conceals their identity. This does not change the voice or mannerisms of the individual, just makes them a shadowy shape that resembles whatever form they are in. Successes determine the duration of the effect but not the size. The size will always accommodate the individual. |
Control Shadow at Levels 2 and 3 grant access to the "Shroud" armor special which may be applied with a successful roll to the caster plus one additional individual in their immediate vicinity per level of success on the roll up to a total of five individuals.
While the caster cannot be easily identified and can move through shadows at Level 3, they are still visible and targetable in this form. There are no special FS3 commands for taking on the shadow form.
NOTE: A character may only benefit from one of the following armor specials at a time: Frost, Shroud, or Wind
