Technopathy

Description

This ability allows the individual to sense technology, assume control of technological devices using their mind to operate them without touching the device, and understand the coding or programming of various devices. The complexity of the device and the finesse of the control depends on the level of power of the individual attempting to operate it.

This ability requires a roll to activate and to determine the duration of the effect.

Success Levels:

  • Success: Up to 5 minutes of control and the ability to sense within a 6 foot radius.
  • Good Success: Between 5 and 15 minutes of control and the ability to sense within a 12 foot radius.
  • Great Success: Between an hour to 2 hours of control and the ability to sense within a 24 foot radius.
  • Amazing Success: Up to several hours of control and the ability to sense in a 48 foot radius.

Limits

This ability may not be used on tech-based NPCs belonging to another player without their consent.

Levels
1 The individual may operate low level devices with simple mechanical and electrical switches, appliances, lawn mowers, and the like. They may sense the presence of technological devices within an area of effect based on a successful roll.
2 The individual may operate tablets, smart phones, laptops, desktop computers, automotive computers, and other moderately complicated devices. They may understand and interpret programming languages within the devices and control that programming, though not materially alter it.
3 The individual may operate complex machinery including airplane controls, navigational computers, surgical equipment, and the like. They may alter, add, or remove programming, effectively reprogramming a device and giving it new features or removing features that it was not previously able to perform.
