A double set of doors at either end of the aviary ensures that there are no escapees that make their way back out into the park. Inside, high up above the tops of the mixture of artificial and real trees, the weave that forms the roof can be seen drawn out among the branches and mostly obscured by foliage, giving the illusion of open sky.
A concrete path winds its way back and forth diagonally across the open space where waterfalls pour into small pools and branches hang at all levels, many populated with a wide array of songbirds. Waterfowl inhabit the pools and walk around among the guests. Informational placards give information on the various species that inhabit the exhibit along with interesting facts about them.
The aviary is kept warm all year round. Even in the deepest of winter it feels comfortably warm inside. And while rain does get through, snow never seems to accumulate within.
