It's Flower Power night at the Paradise Beach Club and the sounds of Earth, Wind, and Fire are pumping inside as the interior is turned into a Boogie Wonderland. Garlands of flowers hang throughout the space from the ceiling, their leaves and blooms fragrant with scents that grow stronger with the warmth in the room from the bodies dancing on the floor. There is a distinctly late 60s and early 70s vibe in both the outfits on display tonight.

Up at the bar drink specials such as the "Everything She Does is Magic" and "Rocket Man" are on offer for those with a 21+ wristband. Non-alcoholic versions are available for the Under 21 crowd.

Up in the DJ booth with its open window that looks out onto the floor, DJ Escape is currently surveying the dance floor and choosing the flow of the music for the night.

Alan has on a very 70s disco shimmery shirt with silver, blue, green, pink, and other patches of color on it, the sleeves rolled up to his elbows and unbuttoned at the top. His pants are white and skin-tight, clinging to his body. It's hard to see his shoes since he's behind the window of the DJ booth but they too are fantastically shimmery silver. Some garlands of flowers are draped around his hair and woven around the black sweep of his horns. Every so often, he leans against the ledge of the window to chat with those on the dance floor who come up to visit him between songs.

For those used to the somber, muted tones that Neville Chesterfield typically adorns, the dour expression on his face, and the somewhat bombastic sound of his voice, what manifests itself at the party may as well have emerged from a time machine. A Delorean, a Hot Tub, or an Ajatacia Crystal as it was in Episode 3 of the second season of Galactic Journeys.

Dressed in a very faded blue denim work shirt buttoned up about halfway, revealing a perhaps surprising amount of chest hair and a better than expected physique, Neville is walking a bit taller in a pair of brown boots that are tucked easily underneath a pair of wide legged jeans. He has a pair of round spectacles perched on his nose that appear as if they have seen better days, and a necklace of some sort of inexpensive beadwork hanging just below his throat.

Robin is out on the dance floor wearing throwback Jimi Hendrix with orchid purple military cut shirt with oracge trim and paisley in the sleeves popping some colour like a peacock. The pants are worn lose with a cerulean sash around the waist all made out of various fabrics of India, or perhaps one of his many painting projects.

Deep into his feels his hands, which are ink black to the second knuckle, are 'chasing the butterflies' on the dance floor in a groove. The movement is causing the 'ink' of his fingers to swirl around his arms as he dances to, arguably, one of the very best bands ever.

Savvy arrived on the scene a little bit ago, and has since gotten and finished one of those drink specials, though if you asked her, she couldn't tell you which one it was. The dark-haired woman wears a sheer floral sequined dress, and a pair of questionably to theme strappy cherry vinyl platforms with a chunky heel and sole. She has a pair of 70s wire-rimmed sunnies on to protect her eyes from the neon light show going on in the club, or perhaps nursing some kind of hangover. The fashion choices of the 60s and 70s. One never knows. That she has floral tattoos only add to the theme.

She glances up at the DJ booth with the music changes, smiles, and then glances over the crowd, taking in the fits that are groovin' to the music, including Neville and Robin's inspire ensembles.

Theo took the theme in general. The one that said flower power. He comes to the club in a black suit. There's a pattern to be found: red flowers and green leaves. Black boots end his ensemble. He has a casual smile on his lips and finger waves to anyone familiar as he wanders over to see what drink choices there are. An up-nod for DJ Escape as he makes his way to the bar. He's likely hanging out here for a few minutes as he gets his bearings. Robin gets a finger gun movement when he has moved but otherwise he knows where his destination is.

The theme is loose and for fun and there is no one checking anything at the door aside from IDs to give out the wrist bands to those who plan on ordering drinks. It is a night of carefree tunes and groovy vibes.

Alan gives an up-nod of recognition to Theo as he comes over to hang out by the DJ booth. Arms folded on the edge of the window, he leans down to say. "Hey. Theo, right?" He remembers him from one of his first nights spinning at the club the first week he was here. "How's it going? Nice suit. I dig it."

Making his way over towards the DJ booth by way of the edge of the dance floor after procuring a drink, Neville offers a raise of his glass in salute to Savvy as he similarly takes a glance around at the variety of costumes and outfits. "You have quite an impressive array of illustrations," he ventures towards her, his gaze considering the works lining her arms. "I must commend you both on your choice of imagery and your selection of artist, because the work is as exquisite as the inspiration."

Declan's here in a little bit different style than most. Donning a psychodelic in its own way t-shirt and light colored jeans, he's already here with a drink in hand. That wristband will probably be getting some good uses tonight!

He bumps into his roomy from behind, gently. "Whatcha drinkin' tonight, Sav?" For his sake, he's got a bottle of something domestic and takes a long drink before he, too, looks around at the rest of the crowd.

Eventually the song shifts over to Summer Breeze by Seals and Crofts, slowing things down a little for a moment, folks on the floor swaying along. The air fills a little with the scent of Jasmine, though that could just be a coincidence.

"Yeah, Theo," Theo responds to Alan after getting a drink. His wristband says he's legal, so he definitely is taking advantage of the 21+ drinks. "I think I only know you by your DJ name, but I think I heard someone say Alan?" Not sure hence the questioning tone of his voice.

He looks down at what he is wearing and then looks back up and smiles. "Thanks, man. Looks like it will be a fun night tonight." Chuckling as he repeats part of Alan's words back to him. "I can dig it."

"Couldn't tell you," Savvy says to Declan, leaning back to eye his beer. "Something with an umbrella in it." She shrugs. "One of the specials. Should try it, it was tasty." She leans back a bit and gestures to the bartender. The meaning of the gesture is up to interpretation. Either ready for another or got an order to make. Whenever they happen by, she'll either put in an order or pay for what's handed over. "Thanks," she says to Neville. "Couple artists. If you're ever in New Orleans look up The Sailor's Heart."

"Summer breeze makes me feel fine," she sings when that line comes around the first time. "This is an excellent pool party song. Shame it's so chilly out there."

Gabe shows up a little late given their shift ran over yet again on account of last minute milkshakes. Milkshakes in winter. Really.

Using any excuse to raid their eclectic closet, they've brought out a Bowie inspired striped pantsuit that screams in all its brightly colored glory. Yellows, blues, and metallic pinks catch the light as they walk straight to the bar. There's a dramatic flair to the trousers, helped along by platform boots which are barely visible underneath. They're also not wearing a shirt under the blazer, but the buttons have been pinned in place to avoid anything more than just a sliver of skin showing down their flat chest.

Once a drink has been acquired (something with a purple straw), they sit off to the side for a moment to acclimate.

Taking Savvy's advice in the drink, Neville also gives the bartender a brief salute. "I shall have to do so should I find myself in the city and with an ardent desire to have myself painted." His tone is rather jovial, perhaps more so now that he has finished the drink that was in his hand.

He nods along as Savvy sings. "Yes, well, do they have these sorts of soirées in the summer, too?"

As the song slows Robin turns taking a glance around and spots Theo from the book store. Ink-stained fingers lift in a half salute. From his pocket he digs out his phone typing out something heading toward the DJ booth and waits for Alan to have a moment. His hand rubs the back of his neck waiting. Spotting Gabe there's a pause and an upnod before a flask of digits in a wave.

He signs a <<Hello>> to Alan in some politeness but also to establish the note is probably essential here. He turns the phone around and it reads 'Possible to do Soul Kitchen by the Doors 2nite?' There's a bit of a hopeful look signing back <<Great set>> Which to those that sign not at all still looks like approval.

"An umbrella? But it's not even raining..." He glances around as if in confusion--but wears a grin--and gives her a nod. He settles into silence whenever Neville has an exchange with Sav but moseys on away to the bartender presumably to find himself a special with an umbrella in it.

He downs the rest of his beer first though. Let none say he's one to waste drink or be a twofer! One at a time, that's the way of a smart man. He waits his turn to get a pair of the specials and starts working on one before heading back in the direction of Sav at a leisurely pace, singing along to that song with the one part of the chorus he knows in a terribly high falsetto. "...through the jasmine of my...miiiiiind."

Savvy spots Gabe pretty quick considering they, too, have embraced the sequins. "That's amazing. And can I borrow it sometime?" They're near enough in height that if Gabriel's the closet swapping type, it could work. The question's casual, friendly, and she doesn't look like the sort to take offense at a brush off on the clothes acquisitions and trades.

"I couldn't tell you for sure," Sav says to Neville, only just arrived here in the park recently. "I'd imagine so given the rolling doors," she points to the closed portal, "and the location of the beach just outside. Looking forward to the heat of summer for that."

Her gaze slides to Robin over at the DJ book, making note of the signing, though she doesn't catch the meaning. Is it a request? She smiles absently, a former club worker herself. Always tells you about a person when you hear their requests come up. "You know this song, Declan? Very sensitive, extremely floral."

When Robin approaches, Theo moves away so that he can converse with the DJ. He doesn't know the sign but gets the general gist of what is happening here and smiles for the artist. "It is good to see you again." This is said in Robin's direction.

When they see Gabriel, they also get a wave of greeting, and then he is back to sip, sip, sip his drink. He might have heard that the specials have umbrellas, so that might have to be his next drink choice.

Gabe looks up from where they're casually slurping at their straw and catches Robin's wave. They smile back at him, then tug out their phone to shoot a text from way over here since yelling's out of the question

[Text to Robin: Nice outfit.]

The phone just barely gets lowered when Savvy offers that compliment. Their lips tug into a bright smile. "Isn't it?" Humble. "Yeah, of course. You got anything in cape sleeves? I kill in cape sleeves." Seems that yes, they sure are the closet swapping type.

Theo's wave gets one in return, followed by a little thumbs up for his flower power suit of choice.

Alan has a bottle to one side that he's drinking from through the set. No drinking for him while on duty. That'll wait for later. He's vibing to the tunes though and seems to be in a good mood. There's a nod when Theo mentions his actual name, grinning. "Some do indeed call me that." He looks out over the crowd and says, "Seems like it will be. Where are your dancing queens tonight? They late?"

When Robin comes over he gives an up-nod of greeting. He leans over to read the screen and then signs back to Robin. << You got it. >> with a flash of a grin and then << Thank you. >> He might not know all the signs for everything but he's clearly had some practice and seems to understand Robin easily enough.

The sound of Soul Kitchen by the Doors starts playing as Summer Breeze comes to an end. Alan gives a little peace sign to Robin and bobs along with the music.

"Well, I know that much of the song, yeah." Oh definitely, Declan is mister flowery sensitive, alright. Another little grin as he sips on his drink. The song changes to something truly psychedelic and he starts moving about in languid, wavy ways. The sound of The Doors can't be mistaken. But this is a song in which he doesn't know a word of it. But that's okay! Because he's grooving and even plays the air-guitar for a little bit.

Neville eyes the departure and then impending return of Declan as he converses casually with Savvy. "Yes, it would appear that way," he murmurs, turning as his drink order arrives, and he takes a quick sip to check the taste.

He raises the glass to Savvy briefly in salute. "A fine choice, thank you for the recommendation." He gives Declan a nod upon that return. "I shall leave you to it." With that said, he takes a step back, another quick sip of the drink, and then turns to make his way over towards some of the seats at the edge.

A grin flashes in Gabriel's direction when Theo spies the thumbs up, and he's back to looking down at what he is wearing and straightening it with his one hand that isn't holding his drink.

But Alan is asking him something, and he looks back in that direction. "Dancing Queens?" Then he remembers and laughs. "You know you should play that song next. By Abba." Taking a look around the crowd. "It seems they are. Or maybe they are working." He shrugs. He doesn't know what everyone's schedule is like, and the park still needs to run even if there is downtime.

Robin warms a wide, lopsided grin to Alan and responds <<You're slaying up here.>> This is probably a good thing! He tilts his head to look at the phone and the smile holds sending a text back but walking that way while the slower song plays out. There's a sign with some emphasis on it back with following text.

[Txt to Gabe: Thx I was looking for a purpose for it too. Suit's killer. V Bowie.]

This is probably a joke but at least the humor is there and he looks less stressed out than previous days. Looking up he investigates to see if- it is. He flashes the horse to Alan and points up to the sound, the speakers, grinning to Gabe. <<This is my jam>> Neville and Savvy nearby get a war smile smile, and a small golf clap to them before swaying to the Doors here - a stray club kid that's re-found his rave.

"I have a black asymmetric cape sleeve maxi dress if you feel like playing a dark queen one of these nights. The left sleeve's slit up higher than the right. Almost requires a black crown," Sav says to Gabe, grinning when the offer's made. "I have the high boots to go with it, if you can navigate stilettos, which I assume you can, because," she sweeps a hand up and down Gabe's person. "Immaculate vibes."

She reaches over to pluck the umbrella out of Declan's drink, sucks off the alcohol, and tucks it into her hair next to the other one from her drink. More color pops on her overall ensemble can't go wrong on this theme night. She smiles right back to Robin. She points up to indicate the speakers with a silent kind of 'you request this one?' gesture.

"Maybe," Alan says to Theo and then asks, "You going to dance with me if I do?" Seeing as his dance partners from the other night don't seem to be present. Robin gets a thumbs-up from the booth and a laugh. He's never been one to turn down a reasonable request, or one that entertains him, after all.

Scanning the floor, he keeps an eye out to make sure people are all seemingly on their feet and enjoying themselves -- no dancers down.

Gabe's doing their best not to seem rude as they glance at their phone when Robin texts back. It means a response is slightly delayed by the time he comes over. There's no lack of smiling right back at him.

[Text to Robin: High praise. Thanks. You having a good time?]

The sudden wide-eyed look that Savvy gets in return means they're shook down to their core. "Holy shit. Yes. I could get a black crown easy. Yes. Please. Thank you." They then remember that they haven't even bothered to introduce themself. "Gabe, by the way. And...ironically I'm better with platforms, but I've never actually said no to a stiletto. One in my size at least." The lift up a boot to reveal not quite dainty feet.

Well, since Declan has two of those delicious drinks and Sav has only absconded with one of those umbrellas. Thus, he picks out the other one and tucks that behind his own ear! But forgets to suck the alcohol off, so it gets a little drippy. But he does had the rest of the drink over to his roomie. Then, he gives her some space. She's got a crowd around her and he's easy to let the gal breathe!

He still does a little bit of dancing like he's seen done in Austin Powers' movies, because that's, clearly, the way all dancing to '60s music should be done.

<FS3> Robin rolls power: Great Success (8 8 7 7 6 5 4 3 2)

"Sure, I will dance with you." Theo laughs when Alan says that. "Doesn't that require you to exit the booth first?" He glanced at the bottle that he saw Alan put to the side. "You gonna drink that during your break?" He's amused. "I don't think we can fit behind there anyway." Theo is laughing outright now. He is looking for a place to put his own glass down if dancing is about to happen.

Robin might be a bit buzzing on his evening as he nearly forgot he's been 'subtitles off' all night. The font that hovers in the air in front of him is definitely influenced by the Austin Powers movie and some Curls MT. 'Robin. Yes I requested this one. Great Floyd shirt dude." he points to Declan with that.

Robin's getting his groove on in place looking down at the does and then looks between them with a nod. 'I have 6" platforms. Make me look like a very skinny Frankenstein.' He has definitely pre-gamed a bit leaving him really at the mercy of being in a groove with the world here in the Soul Kitchen.

"I do get a break," Alan says, lifting his bottle of water and taking a long sip from it before he sets it down and queues up a couple of songs, enough so that he can leave the booth and knows how much time he has before he has to get back. And then he's coming out the door to the side, closing it behind him. "There's plenty of room, but there's more on the dance floor," he says as he crooks a finger and beckons Theo out onto the dance floor as the song shifts and changes.

As the Doors finish up, Abba begins to play throughout the room with a little Dancing Queen.

Savvy glances down at that and says, "You knock on the door of ... Fox 205 sometime in about, give it a week. I'll show you my collection. See what fits." She got here so very recently, all of her stuff hasn't even arrived. Sav's tall, so her feet aren't all that dainty either. There's a glance over to Dec when he hands over the drink, and she reaches up to dab off some alcohol dribbling down his neck. Could be sweat too, but she has a bar napkin in hand to also wipe any condensation off the glass, lest it drip. She grins as she takes off tot he dance floor with an umbrella behind his ear.

Savvy pauses when floaty font spelling out messages. She sips from the drink she was handed, and then the music changes. "Oh, shit. Cannot sit for this one." She slurps one more mouthful, then sets the glass aside and makes her way out to the dance floor too! "I'd love to see those," she calls back to Robin, even though she hasn't sussed whether he's hearing or not. Someone'll have to let her know later, because it's partyyy time!

Hands in the air, she engages in some lazy swaying dancing, clapping in time to the tambourine. The hip action is subdued, and the dancer fits her moves to the music.

Theo kept his grin when Alan beckoned him to the dance floor. "Good to know that the DJ gets a break."

His moves to the dance floor sync with the music. He's a performer. He lives for this kind of stuff and seems to be in his element when he finally reaches the dance floor with Alan.

When he passes Savvy and notices that she is dancing, he gives her a wink as he lets the music and his dancing partner engulf him. Smiles and light seem to shine right off of him. It might also have been the alcohol that loosened him up some, too. Gesturing at her if she wishes to join him and Alan in this moment of Dancing Queen.

Double the ABBA in less than a week's time?! It's party central up in this place! Conversely to someone on the dance floor, Declan's hip action is not subdued. He's working it back and forth with the best of them. He sings this song loud and proud, especially on the choruses. The verses give him a little trouble with the lyrics, but that doesn't slow him down from mumbling away without a care in the world.

He holds what's left of his drink overhead, now that Sav has seen to his cleaning up. What a gem she is, making sure he doesn't make a fool of himself! He flashes her a thankful wink as he tears it up out there.

"Or a long lost Spice Girl," Gabe counters Robin on that Frankenstein tease. They chug down the rest of their tiki drink and place it on a free surface where a server can collect it.

Savvy's offer has them straight up handing over their phone to get her number. "Seriously, I haven't done anything to deserve this and I have imposter syndrome right now, but put in your info. Whenever you're at the diner, I'll hook you up. Though free eggs pales in comparison to dress up montages."

And then, of course, there's ABBA. Gabe smirks and gets up as well, because it's illegal in like ten states to not dance to this song. Their arms go up and head tilts back with eyes closed as they start to bodily sway like a Dancing Queen.

Out on the floor, Alan moves in time with the music, putting on his best 70s dance moves, which are actually pretty good. He's definitely done some dancing of some kind in the past. He has the rhythm and the confidence on the dance floor of someone who is definitely no stranger to it. "I'm allowed a couple through the night," he tells Theo as they get their Dancing Queen on. "Just have to queue up a few songs so I have enough time to get out and back before they're over." He grins. "Not that you couldn't come in the booth with me, but there's not a whole lot of room for dancing in there."

He grins at Declan and Savvy as they dance nearby, nodding approvingly. And then there's Gabriel with arms in the air and he lets out a low whistle.

Overhead, it may be subtle enough not to notice, but those flowers seem to change scent as the night goes on and the music changes and shifts. Their little tendrils and leaves curling and uncurling, reaching down from above to occasionally brush the dancers before withdrawing up toward the ceiling again.

There are smiles all around for those who have joined the dance floor. One is aimed at Declan, and Gabriel gets one next. It is a good time out here on the floor.

"If I go into that booth with you, it's going to turn into dirty dancing or something." This is said to Alan when Theo hears the DJ's words, and it makes him laugh again. "I will just bump your hip or something." But this music is speaking to him, and he just has to show off his dance moves.

In one of his moves, Theo could have sworn he saw the flowers changing. "Am I drunk?" He mutters as he tries to look at the ceiling, but then he shrugs and flashes a wink at Alan as if it was nothing that he might have caught.

Robin continues to groove out to ABBA even if this particular one is not highest on his list, he is respecting the classics that got us here. When Gabe calls him a lost Spice Girl he snickers and signs with subtitles 'Salt is a spice I guess. Fair.'

Robin keeps watching the flowers and reaches up with ink-blacked fingers to Michaelangelo-poke at one of the plants extending little leafy bits toward them all dancing to investigate and dance with it.

When Robin reaches up toward one of the little green tendrils, it winds around his finger and seems to sway a little with him, as though accepting the dance, the bloom attached to the tendril bobbing back and forth.

Savvy laughs and dances, at some point having swiped Gabe's phone (that was offered) to key in her number to the tune of ABBA and complete with a dance floor selfie as her contact photo. The phone is returned on the dance floor, palmed off to her fellow sequined clubgoer.

She's adjusting to seeing these floaty subtitles Robin's providing, even if she misses parts of the conversation. Bit like dropping acid, that, only she's pretty much sober, only one drink in. Head tipped back while she dances, she watches the flowers above bloom and curl, and she, too, reaches up to touch a tendril. "What the fuck was in that drink..." It's a calm question despite the sprinkling of profanity. She's certainly charmed and not alarmed.

"ABBA-sinthe," Declan says to Sav without missing a beat. He just keeps riiiiiight on dancing.

Alan's smile is amused as one brow lifts at Theo. But he's enjoying the dancing and the little break from being up on the booth to be down on the floor with everyone else. He notices the blooms shifting as he glances up and smiles in amusement. One tendril dips down and curls in the garland of flowers that are nestled in his hair and around his horns, as though trying to steal it back up toward the ceiling with the other flowers. He doesn't even stop it, letting it go and laughing as it gets dragged away. "My flowers just got bloom-napped." Then he tells Theo "You may be drunk, but I'm not, so that definitely just happened."

Slowly, ABBA fades out and is taken over by the Mamas and the Papas with a little California Dreaming

Theo can't be that drunk. Especially because he is dancing this close to Alan and sees what the ceiling flowers are doing. "What in the actual fuck?" He mutters. His eyes widened in awe, as if he couldn't believe what he saw. "What does that mean? Flowers want us to play with them or what?" Frowning as if the flowers on the ceiling have all the answers, he finally looks steadily and pulls at one of them to see what it will do. "That is kind of cool. I will say that."

Robin might have picked the best time ever to pop a gummie and go dancing. As the flower reaches down both hands reach up to dance and sway with it. The black ink in his fingers making little drawn vines with leaves down his arms temporarily as he adds his own illusion to it making little day-glo pink and blue and purple bees orbit.

'Aww look at you. This is so greatl' Looking to Gabe and Savvy there's a guilty smile empathizing, and signing back with letters showing for her 'idk but I can tell you the contents of the brownie. Doesn't hurt. They're cool.'

"You did not," Savvy replies with a laugh. "Shut uuuup." The music changeover has her staying on the floor, and this time she sings along with the song. She points to Robin when he floats some words, and throws her hands into the air, vibin'. She dances a little closer to Robin and wends a hand through the floaty letters to see what happens. Do they dissipate like smoke?

When Theo reaches up and tugs at one of the tendrils, the tendril wraps around his fingers and pulls back. The ones that Robin holds onto seem to be dancing along with him. While the ones that made off with Alan's flowers from his hair just seem to assimilate them into the whole.

"I think they just want to dance," Alan chuckles as he looks up at them as he continues to dance. "Kind of fun. I'm down with dancing plants. These are better than those plastic ones on the pots that wiggle to the sound of the radio." But he's gradually running out of pre-queued music so he leans in and says, "Thanks for the dance, Theo. Gotta go back to work now, though." And with a little grin, he begins to slip away, surrendering his flower crown to its fate and returning to the DJ booth before the next song needs to be queued up.

Theo is distracted when the tendril wraps around his fingers and pulls back. This makes this performer laugh. He hears Alan and nods his agreement. "I think you are right. This is amazing." Grinning when Alan's flower crown is taken off to wherever. He's too busy playing tug-a-war with the one he has.

Alan is now telling him he has to go. With his free hand, he waves to the DJ. "Thanks for the fun." One last tug with the plant he was playing with. He doesn't know if the flower will understand him, but he speaks to it as if it's human anyway. "And thank you for showing up."

"I think I'm gonna grab a drink." Making his way off the dance floor.
