Neville played Commander Gabriel Dumas, the charming if complex and aloof French legal officer and second in command for the first three seasons of the hit sci-fi show, "Galactic Journeys". His abrupt departure and absence from the fourth season led to fans blaming him for the show's premature cancellation before its intended fifth wrap-up season.

Neville played the wicked sorcerer Stregnalthalon in the long-awaited three movie adaptation of the beloved fantasy novel The Trials of Garrick.

Acting!

Before becoming known to the rest of the world for his sci-fi role, Neville was an emerging talent on the London stage, although after a star making turn as Richard III he left the stage in favor of Hollywood produced tv.

Cambridge

He studied theatre and history in Cambridge, and considers himself to be quite knowledgeable in those areas.

Master Thespian

He considers himself to be a master thespian. He has the acting chops, but it does come off as a bit pretentious.

Where did he go?

There was a large gap between his sudden departure from Galactic Journeys and his return in The Trials of Garrick, and almost nothing since the latter. What was he doing other than acting, and why were his roles so few and far between?

You want someone who can not only look down his nose and use that nose to sneer in such a way it will make your skin crawl? Neville is a master of it. Although he really only employs it on stage. Right?

Neville Chesterfield was a well regarded stage actor in London's West End.

After failing to win an Olivier award for a performance of Richard III, his disappointed reaction was considered 'unseemly' by the British theatrical community.

He then accepted a lucrative offer from Hollywood to bring gravitas to a new sci fi tv show. He spent three years as the cultured, aloof but at times unbridled passionate second officer of an exploration vessel. Enjoyed attention as sex symbol in the US due largely to his exotically seductive and sibilant accent that was deployed at will on the show. He surprised the fans by leaving the show after the third season, not revealing it was due to a back injury sustained during the second season in a failed stunt. Fans blamed his departure for a poorly received fourth season that led to the series cancellation.

After a few years without work due to typecasting, he was recruited to join the cast of a fantasy trilogy as its lead villain. Not wanting to do genre work again, he was in need of money due to multiple back surgeries. He turned in a magnificent performance which won him a legion of new fans. However, he was vocal to the studio about what he had perceived was abuse of a young star on the set by a powerful and influential producer. Whether accurate or not, he was quickly blacklisted by the producer, and rumors of his being difficult to work with and alleged addiction to pain killers rendered him uncastable.

Unable to find work after the movies, Neville had accepted that he would not perform again when he received an inquiry from Spellbound. At first he could not swallow the notion of performing at a theme park of all places. But eventually, reality overcame his pride and he accepted.

Tall and lean with a robust head of black hair, Neville's face seems to bear a constant impression that he is above whatever he is doing, aided by a somewhat uniquely hooked nose. The depth of his eyes, however, belies the simplicity of his other expressions.
