It's a quiet Sunday afternoon and Lucien spent the early morning working out, then several hours of practice on the ice. Now, he's freshly showered and curled up on the bean bag chair that is in the room with a small grey snugglebunny in his lap and the two cats curled up together behind one shoulder in a salt and pepper pile. He's got his phone open in front of him and is flipping through some messages, trading a few back and forth with whoever might be on the other end. There's some music playing, a playlist of random current popular hits.

The first sign of Auggie's return is not the front door, but rather the beating of very large wings as Echo, the Great Blue Heron, alights just outside the living room window and gives a loud Croak! A sure sign that...Right on cue, the front door flies open, and Auggie comes bounding into the apartment, dragging his surfboard along with him, tucked under one arm. There's still a light dusting of sand on his hair and clothes, and his golden skin glows even more golden after a morning in the spring sunshine. He smiles brightly upon spotting Lucien, teeth flashing as he gives him an eager wave. "Hey Luci!" Auggie chirps happily, passing the living room doorway with a clatter as he stashes the surfboard somewhat noisily in his room.

It's only a few seconds later before he reappears in the doorway, though, apparently keen for some roomie chill time. He’s in a loose, slightly oversized tank top and coral-pink board shorts with a pattern of hibiscus flowers. He's holding Muddy the turtle (recently awakened from winter brumation) in one hand and a handful of carrot sticks in the other, and he bounds over to where Luci is sitting, popping himself down on the floor nearby and folding his legs beneath him. "Dude!" he greets warmly, offering Muddy the first of the carrot sticks as he does.

The sound of Echo appearing outside the window startles the bunny whose ears perk up and it takes off to hide under Lucien's bed. Skittish little thing, it's much less brave than the two cats who lazily crack open one eye each, observe the brd, and then go back to sleep even as Auggie comes bounding in, surfboard and all. They're very accustomed to August, the otter, and the noise.

"Hey, Auggie," Lucien says as he looks up, offering a wave of his phone in greeting. And then off August goes to stow the surfboard and he goes back to scrolling a little. That is until August returns with Muddy in one hand and carrots in the other. "Hey, Muddy," he says to the turtle in greeting. "Guess it's wake-up time," he observes, having forgotten the poor turtle would be waking up to the chaos, too. There are a lot of animals in this apartment.

Muddy reaches sloooowly up with his telescope neck and helps himself to a carrot stick, and Auggie dutifully lines two more up in front of him before starting to crunch his way through the rest of the small handful he arrived with from...wherever he was. Auggie tends to crash through the apartment like a bit of a whirlwind, honestly. "Haii Lucien!" Auggie does his best deep and rumbly turtle voice to represent Muddy responding to Lucien's greeting, and then dissolves into a happy laugh. "Hey dude!" Auggie chirps happily, lifting a hand to high-five Lucien, following which Salt and Pepper will each get a scratch behind the ear, if they seem amenable. From one of the other rooms, there is the sound of some cheerful singing, as Lucien's skittish snugglebunny seems to have run into Candyfloss (Auggie's snugglebunny) for a reassuring playdate. "Yeah..." Auggie explains, nodding hs head and lifting a hand to push his curls out of his face. "He got done brumating a few days ago." he explains.

Lucien has just come to expect random crashing through the apartment, a flurry of animals and people punctuated by quiet moments where one has to finally wonder if it's suspiciously too quiet. He snickers just a little at Auggie's 'turtle voice' and then says, "Hey." Leaning over, he returns the high-five since he's not gonna leave him hangin'. Both cats seem quite content with the ear scratches, leaning their heads in for more. Salt and Pepper love attention and the longer Auggie scritches, the more likely he's about to end up with both of them in his lap.

"That's cool. I'd almost forgotten he was in there," he says with a faintly amused smile. "You're a quiet roommate," he tells Muddy. Then he asks Auggie. "What's new with you lately?"

Auggie beams when Lucien laughs at his silly voice and high-fives him back. As far as roomies go, Auggie is a pretty great one if you can tolerate a little occasional noise and chaos, as well as your home being turned into a small zoo. Luckily, Auggie takes pretty good care of all of his various animal buddies, and as a result, they're happy, healthy and (relatively) well behaved. At the very least, they're about as friendly as Auggie, which is very.

"Hi Salty! Hi PepPeps!" he chatters at the kitties, before finally reaching into his pocket and producing another carrot stick for Muddy once the kitties seem content. "Dude I know right!?" Auggie looks back up at Luc when he mentions almost forgetting Muddy was brumating. "Imagine baby Auggie figuring out hep for six whole months - I was climbing the walls!" he explains, making a frantic gesture to demonstrate his younger-selfs impatience.

When Lucien asks what's new with him, Auggie considers briefly, and he starts chatting away happily, explaining "Dude, like...not too much, right?" he shrugs his head and spreads his arms, indicating not too much. "I've been hanging out with Roman from the Merboy show some. He's fricking dreamy." Auggie flutters his eyes by way of demonstration. "We went diving to make friends with Shadowmanders and found a couple playing in the kelp! That was pretty sick!" he grins happily. "How about you?"

Lucien doesn't seem to mind the noise and chaos, and in those times when he needs some peace and quiet, he heads to the Winding Vine and up to the highest floor where the used books are to chill in the reading nook there for a little while. He has no complaints. And the fact that all the animals in the apartment are friendly certainly helps with the overall harmony within the chaos.

Lucien grins when Auggie says that Roman is dreamy, chuckling. "He's the really, really tall one, right?" he asks, having seen the show a couple of times. He knows them more by their character names than their actual names, but he's pretty sure he knows which one Auggie is referring to. "That sounds like a lot of fun. I saw pictures of the Shadowmanders. They're both cute and terrifying with all the teeth."

As for him? He shrugs his shoulders and smiles, "Lots and lots of training for the competition in Boston that I'm leaving for soon." And it's true. He's been training so much he's been hardly home between the performances, rehearsals, training, working out, and getting ready for the ISU World Championships.

Auggie laughs happily and bobbles his head in a bit of a nod when Lucien asks if Roman is the really tall one from the mermaid show. "That's him!" he chirps, and then smiles even wider when the shadowmanders are mentioned. "The one we found was way friendly!" Auggie affirms easily, though Auggie also hangs out with a massive brown bear, os his perception might be skewed. "We took some of the dried sprats I feed to Bubbles and the lil' dude scarfed 'em right down!" Auggie laughs, clicking his teeth together a couple of times in imitation of the hungry shadowmander chomping his way through a fine kettle of fish.

"Oh yeah!" Auggie nods, remembering right away when Lucien mentions his skating competition. Auggie remembers it, of course! It has been what Lucien has been focusing on so much recently, and as friends go, Auggie is nothing if not supportive! "You're gonna fricking kill it dude!" Auggie nods reassuringly. "You've been working so hard and you've got all those great coaches here on the island!" he chatters away encouragingly. "You're gonna kick butt dude, I can so totally tell!" he nods, apparently very certain of this for no reason he can really make out other than confidence in his buddy. "Proud of ya, dude!" he grins, and offers Lucien a congratulatory high-five.

That Auggie finds all animals friendly doesn't really surprise Lucien. He's come to learn this about his roommate. The description of the Shadowmanders scarfing away at the fish gets a little crooked grin. "Did you get any pictures of them?" he asks and then pauses. "Or wait, I guess you were under water. Probably didn't bring a phone."

Lucien chuckles a little at the very enthusiastic support from Auggie. Reaching over, he returns the high five, certainly not gonna leave him hanging. "I feel pretty good about the routine. I think I have room to make it more technical, more challenging for next time but I think this one is really solid and I want to get enough points so that I can make it on to the next ones. In the end, it's going to be the total number of points across all of the competitions that are going to matter. And I think I can get there." Is he nervous? Yes. Is he also pretty confident in all the hard work he's been putting in? Also, yes.

Auggie grins widely and lifts a finger to tap against his temple several times when Lucien supposes they didn't get any photos of the Shadowmanders. "That's where you're wrong!" he laughs happily, teeth flashing as he taps down his pockets in search of his phone. "Roman was kind of the brains of the operation on that one..." (possibly no surprise there) "...but he had a special case we could take his phone down in!" Auggie enthuses.

While he's looking, he listens as Lucien talks about his competition and the work he's doing on his routine. "See? That's way smart. Get really good at what you're doing and then make it fancier," Auggie agrees, finding his phone and flipping through photo after photo in search of the ones he's after. "You gotta tell me when it is dude and I'll totally come cheer you on!" Auggie offers, though perhaps Auggie's style of enthusiastic cheering might be a bit much for the elegant world of figureskating!

Eventually, Auggie flips about until he can show a photo of him and Roman, grinning away underwater without any breathing apparatus, next to a happy-looking Shadowmander. "Pretty cool, huh?" Auggie asks.

Lucien looks a little surprised when Auggie says that they did get pictures of the Shadowmander and leans over to take a look when he pulls up the image. "That's so cool," he says as he looks at it in surprise. "Doesn't matter how many of these new little critters I see turn up, they're always fascinating." He looks at the little critter and Roman and Auggie grinning at the camera for a moment or two more then settles back, Salt and Pepper migrating around in his lap to curl up in a pile where he scritches them.

"Oh," Lucien says, blinking a little bit in surprise. "I mean, my flight leaves day after tomorrow and I'm there for the rest of the week. I'll be back on Sunday."

"Huh..." Auggie remarks, chewing on his bottom lip when Lucien explains his flight leaves the next day. "I feel like I should totally have planned that out way further in advance, right?" he jokes with a lopsided grin as he reaches up to push his curls back out of his face. "So like, I guess I'll have to catch your next one!" he affirms with another easy laugh and a bobble of his head. "But, I'm totally rooting for you man, you're gonna kill it!" he states with utter confidence.

"Pretty sweet, huh?" Auggie grins while Lucien looks over his Shadowmander picture. "Apparently, there's even a bigger sea dragon thing some people saw. I always miss the cool stuff!" Auggie bemoans with a mock wail that soon turns into another fit of giggles. "I totally gotta get a..." he tries to think of a name "Fable-dex!" he riffs on the name of the island and a pokedex "And get pictures of them all!" he chatters away enthusiastically.

Lucien grins and says, "It's okay. You can stream it online if you want and send me a text or a snapchat or something to cheer me on and I'll get it there!" He doesn't tell August that his next one is in Japan in September, at least not yet. But he seems to appreciate that Auggie would be willing to travel to watch him compete. It's the thought and the support that counts.

"You could start your own animal cards," Lucien grins. "Like those ones that you see when you're a kid. That has the animal picture on the front then all the animal facts on the back like its habitat and diet and stuff."

"Right on!" Auggie nods again, happy smile undiminished as he mentally resolves to go to Lucien's next competition. Which...okay, he is not likely to be able to go to Japan for it! But he would totally go to like...Utah! Or something! He would dodge a Mormon for a buddy! "I'll totally stream it online. Maybe Ro..." he still calls him Ro when rowan can't hear "...will wanna come watch with us! I bet Salty and pep-peps will frek out when they see tiny dad on the TV!" he reaches over and scratches the nearest kitty atop the head. Muddy is still happily munching his carrot sticks! The idea about the Spellbound animal cards gets a wide-eyed look, and an exuberant "Jeeze! That's be so fricking cool!" he chatters away happily. "I bet if I got a whole set, I could get 'em to sell them in the souvenir shops," he grins, this is accompanied by a cha-ching noise and an enthusiastic fist pump. "I'll get on the photography right away!"

Lucien glances in the direction of Rowan's room as though he could see their roommate cringing at the nickname from where he sits. He smiles a little crookedly then and shrugs. "Maybe." He almost never sees Rowan and they don't talk a whole lot, but that doesn't seem to bother him. As long as everyone's happy and comfortable, he's not going to bother the more reclusive of the roommates.

"You'll have to tell me if they react at all," Lucien laughs, glancing down at the cats skeptically as though not quite certain he believes that they will. Still, it's an entertaining thought.

"Could be fun! I'm not much of a photographer but I could help you write little blurbs about them or something," he says, offering what little skill he has in that area to the project.

"Aww, sweet!" Auggie smiles appily whne Lucien offers to help write the blurbs for the back of all the different animal cards. "Right! It;s a deal! I will go on a Spellbound Safari while you're away at your competition!" he enthuses.

Auggie casts a quick glance in the direction of Rowan's door too when Lucien does, as though he almost expects to see him standing there getting visibly red in the face at Auggie's secretive use of his unwanted nickname!

Luckily, the door is closed and Rowan is out and about doing Rowan Things (tm) so there's nothing to worry about! Looking back at Lucien, Auggie gives an exaggerated wipe of his forehead and a quiet "Phew!" before laughing again at the idea of Salt and Pepper watching him on TV. "I'll totally record what they do!" he promises solemnly. One good thing about having Auggie as a roommate is that you get a built-in and very attentive pet sitter for free!

"Great," Lucien grins. "Then when I come back we can work on putting some of the cards together." He seems interested in the project, a little hobby to work on that's not training hard for skating.

Fortunately, Rowan does not seem to have psychically noticed that Auggie used the nickname and they are safe for the moment!

"Thanks. I appreciate you being willing to look after them for a few days." He certainly would have found somewhere to leave them if he had to, some kind of pet condo or another, but the fact that the apartment is full of animals is good for some things.

"So, what else is new lately? Anything? We should do something when I get back to celebrate the end of practice for at least a little bit."

"Sweet! That'll be so awesome!" Auggie grins broadly. He seems pretty into the project, though Auggie is pretty into most things, usually, especially when it involves going out and befriending strange and unusual animals! "We can get different-coloured cards depending on where they live; it'll be rad!" Auggie confirms with a nod, setting his curls bouncing all over the place.

He blinks once, looking a little blank when Lucien thanks him, and he brightens up immediately, shaking his head. "No worries man! You know I love my Salty and Peps!" he giggles, leaning a little closer to make smoochy faces at them while he adds "You get to spend the whole rest of the week with Uncle Auggie! Yes you doooo!" happily, seemingly genuinely glad of the task.

At the question of what else might be new, Auggie purses his lips thoughtfully, for a moment, then explains, "I mean, the ferry is always way busy, you know? So there's that. I keep trying to keep up with all the cool new stuff they're finding around the park but it feels like something new every week. It's pretty awesome," he confirms. "I keep waiting to see if we get another big blue flash"

Lucien nods in agreement. "Maybe color it by.. island? Or maybe environment? Or.." He kind of trails off, contemplating that for a moment or two. When Auggie leans in to make smoochy faces at the cats, they yawn and stretch languidly, Pepper putting one paw square on Auggie's nose. boop Lucien just laughs a little. "I'm sure they'll love it."

"Sure does," Lucien says, of new things being found around the park every day. "Noticed some weird stuff happening around, just like.. things shifting and changing briefly then going back to the way that they were. Just keep wondering if one day we're going to wake up in Cartoonland or something."

"Yeah..." Auggie trails off, clearly considering the possibilities. "Since, like, you know...no fighting types, and probably no psychic type ones either, right?" he ponders. Auggie might have watched a lot of Saturday morning Pokémon when he was a kid! He scrunched his nose up when Pepper boops him - thankfully claws away! - and then giggles again, administering a final ear-scritch before sitting back up. Muddy has by now finished his carrot sticks, but Auggie comes prepared and - rummaging in a pocket - produces a handful of dark green kale leaves. "Eat your veggies Mr Muddy!" Auggie offers encouragingly, and Muddy does indeed crane his neck to chomp the proffered leaves. Auggie looks back up at Lucien when he talks about some of his own strange experiences in the park. "Dude...that sounds fricking awesome!" he grins. "I wonder what we'd look like as cartoons!"

Lucien squints a little as he glances over at Auggie then realizes he's talking about the colors for the cards. "Oh, uh, I dunno. Maybe there are? I have no idea. You've probably seen more of them than I have."

Pepper never uses claws. Neither does Salt, for that matter. Their claws primarily get used on their scratchers which they go through at an incredible rate, and their designated toys. But they're not really biters or scratchers for that matter.

Leaning over, Lucien watches as Muddy continues his salad grazing, grinning a little bit. He laughs and considers what they'd look like as cartoons. "If we end up cartoons, I want an action figure. Complete with skates."

"Totally!" Auggie affirms when Lucien demands an action figure if they end up cartoonified! "Super Lucien! Now with ice skate karate-kick action! Hyah!" Auggie imitates a guy reading an ad-reel for kids' action figures on a TV commercial, complete with a genuine flail of his leg (which manages not to send anything flying, thankfully!) on the appropriate line about karate kick action. "I want super surfing action!" Auggie adds to the fantasy (seriously, it doesn't take much to set him off) and he flings his arm out to either side, swivelling his hips this way and that on the carpeted floor as he attempts to demo without needing to move too much. Eventually, it proves impossible to demo effectively, and so Auggie just flops backwards onto his back, peering up at the ceiling.

Lucien shakes his head with a grin, watching as Auggie tries to put on a display of the action figures in action. He scritches the kittens curled up in his lap, head tilted back against the chair, laughing when August finally just flops back on the floor, looking up at the ceiling. "I could definitely envision it," he says.

After a little while he asks, "So.. are you and Roman like.. going out?" It's asked with a little bit of curiosity, but not any presumption as to whether that might be the case or not.

Auggie lies there on the carpet with his arms spread out to either side, looking up at the ceiling. It's a few seconds for that uncontrollable need to move sets in once more, and he starts making carpet angels on the floor by opening and closing his arms and legs against his body. When Lucien eventually asks about Roman, Auggie stops and then pushes up onto his elbows so that he's looking at Lucien. He presses his lips together thoughtfully and wobbles his head from side to side. "I guess, maybe?" Auggie doesn't seem entirely sure what the sitch there is. "We kissed. So that's something, right?"

The carpet angels on the floor have Lucien grinning anew. Auggie's uncontrollable energy is a constant source of amusement. He's never quite sure what he's going to do, but knows that he can't ever quite keep still for long. Lucien, on the other hand, is more than happy to just rest quietly with the cats in his lap after spending all this time training.

"That's definitely something," he agrees with a nod. Then he says, "Was just curious. He's got a nice smile." He nods toward the phone, where he'd seen the picture of the two of them together with the Shadowmander. He doesn't pry more than that now that his curiosity is satisfied.

"He's seriously pretty," Auggie agrees with a grin and a little bobble of his head when Lucien comments on Roman's smile. The line of questioning has Auggie intrigued now, of course, and instead of just resting on his elbows, he pushes all the way back up to a sitting position. Muddy by now has made short work of his kale leaf and is steadily marching around the living room, inspecting his new home in slow, meticulous detail. Auggie laughs quietly at him for a moment, and then looks back to Lucien. "How about you?" he asks, leaning forward from the waist a little to peer closely at him.

Lucien watches as Muddy goes marching off now that he's finished his salad bar. "Gonna need to be careful and remember to watch where I'm walking. All the little ones move pretty fast." But then his attention shifts back to Auggie and he shakes his head a little. "Not like a dating thing. I did have one guy kiss me once, kind of out of the blue, and flirt with me. Then I never saw him again." He smiles a little bit wryly. "Guess he left the islands."

"Huh," Auggie remarks thoughtfully, head tipping to one side. "You know, that happens pretty often, right? I guess for a lot of people, a theme park is a place you go but don't stay. You kinda...pass through, right? So people like us who do stay, you end up seeing like...a load of people. Like, more people than you'd think," he muses. Eventually, though, he looks up at Lucien and grins. "Once you get back from your competition, we gotta find you someone!"

"Oh, he worked here," Lucien says. "But I guess yeah, it's not a place that many people work long-term, I guess." He's only been at the park since Thanksgiving, himself. He smiles a little wryly and shakes his head. "It's fine."

He laughs though when August declares that they need to find him someone. "I'm alright. I just tend to go for people who don't go for me." He waves it off just a little bit. He doesn't seem terribly upset about it at all.

"No way dude, you're totally fricking pretty, and you been doing all that working out! It'll be totally easy!" Auggie states confidently when poor Lucien seems to shrug off the idea of Auggie's premium matchmaking services. "Plus, you know, there's gonna be literal boatloads of dishy summer temps arriving before long, right?" (Auggie forgets Lucien has only been here since Thanksgiving, and thus would not know) but he states it with confidence. "We can fix you up with a lifeguard for a summer thing, them ship 'em on out in time for your next big competition!" he laughs.

Lucien laughs at August's compliments and shakes his head slowly, letting his head tip back to stare at the ceiling. "And then what if I don't want to ship them back? And then I just end up heartbroken?" He chuckles and then says, "Not that I think that's going to happen. I'm just.. not into guys my own age, really. Way too much drama." Certainly if one considers all the relationship drama that was going on around Crescent Island for a while there. "Plus, hooking up is easy."

"Dude! That's the thing!" Auggie chirps back, irrepressible as ever. "If we're gonna get Lucien Seville: The Rock Opera on Ice 3D Concert Experience one day, there's gotta be an emotional low point where you sing your lovelorn ballad, dude!" Auggie points out. "So really, it kind of lines up perfectly!" he encourages, then laughs happily, shaking his head. "Okay, so maybe it's not the greatest plan, but, you know?" he suggests, lifting his shoulders helplessly. Lucien explains about not really being into guys his own age, and Auggie's eyes have a sudden flash of recognition. "Oh man, like a daddy thing? I kinda get it, kinda," Auggie nods along - you certainly could never accuse him of being unsupportive! "Well, there's totally some cute older guys around, I guess," Auggie considers, chewing thoughtfully on his lower lip as though considering the concept for the first time.

Lucien blinks slowly as he stares at the ceiling and then very sloooowly looks over at August. "The what?? I can't even SING!" That is apparently the sticking point for him, not the having a lovelorn ballad to sing in the first place. But then he just can't help laugh as Auggie seems to think this plan is a great idea. Though when Auggie says like a daddy thing, he coughs and then says, "Yeah, something like that." There's the faintest hint of color that touches the edges of his pointed ears before he says, "There are, yeah."

Auggie looks over at Lucien and blinks once, his mouth falling open in slight confusion. Then the penny drops. "Oh man! you're not gonna play yourself in the Lucien Seville: The Rock Opera on Ice 3D Concert Experience!!!" He explains. "This is for like, twenty years time! The biopic!" he explains, gesturing in the air in front of them as though Lucien ought to be seeing his name in lights. "They'll get whoever the hot boy in Holloywood is that year to do it, and it will be total oscar bait!" he crows, evidently already pretty excited for it. As for the daddy thing? Auggie catches the blush and doesn't push on it. Instead, he just reaches over and gives Lucien's hair a ruffle. Auggie is a good friend like that!

"Oh," Lucien says, laughing just a little bit. "Uh okay." So apparently this biopic is happening far into the future. He finally seems to at least be on the same page as far as understanding what Auggie is talking about even if he's not sure he's quite on board with the vision. Shaking his head though, he laughs and says, "Good to know. Guess as long as I don't have to sing, that's fine." Because that's clearly his sticking point in all of this.

He takes the hair ruffling in stride, his usual somewhat messy curls just a little bit more skewed to one side than the other. He'll reflexively run his fingers through it later to somewhat straighten them out. Finally he asks, "You got any plans tonight? I was thinking of ordering some pizza from Paradise and maybe going over to Deer Hollow where they have the little theatre set up there and watch a movie. Want to come?"

"Nah dude, you don't have to sing! You just have to have a life with interesting plot points that Lin Manuel Miranda can later turn into songs!" Auggie affirms with a bright smile, apparently fully confident that this will definitely happen. Lucien is in showbiz, after all, as opposed to being a boat captain. Not that Auggie is unhappy about being a boat captain! He loves it!

He smiles again, teeth showing, and bobbles his head excitedly when Lucien invites him for pizza and a movie. "Sounds awesome!" he beams. "We can get a half and half, because you know I like extra pineapple on mine!" he laughs, knowing this is a preference shared by fewer than he feels is a really fair number of people. He looksdown over himself and remarks. "I guess I should probably de-sandify myself! Gimme like five!" he enthuses, hopping up to his feet and making for his room, scooping up Muddy as he passes. "Byeeee Lu-ci-ennn!" he croaks out in his imitation Muddy voice, disappearing off through the doorway like a flash of gold.
