Auggie's Place
Auggie lives in Apartment 103 at the Turning Leaf building with his roommates Lucien and Rowan, along with their menagerie of pets!

This cosy-looking room has a somewhat aquatic theme, with walls painted a calming seafoam-green colour reminiscent of the ocean. The bed has navy blue sheets with white stripes, which clash somewhat with several mismatched throw pillows in warm tones, though it is usually made and looks inviting and comfortable. The ocean theme continues on the walls, with several framed photographs of surfboards and sunsets.
A paddleboard leans against the wall in one corner of the room next to a shelf with a few well-thumbed books about marine life and surfing. On the nightstand, various keepsakes, like smooth lake stones and a jar of beach glass, vie for space beside an old-fashioned alarm clock that looks like it might have been thrown across the room more than once. The walk-in closet is filled with flip-flops, board shorts and breezy shirts, a few battered pairs of sneakers, and a wetsuit showing signs of frequent use.
The desk is cluttered with ferry schedules, maintenance manuals, and a few tools, while the corkboard behind it is filled with a variety of photographs of Auggie hanging out with his friends and familiars, as well as a Dudes in Wetsuits 2025 calendar, which can get racier than you might think in certain months. His captain's hat hangs in pride of place on a hook at the back of the door.
The immaculate vibes continue with strings of tiny blue and white fairy lights that twinkle like stars scattered over a tranquil sea. The Bluetooth speaker on the dresser is always on hand to pump out a playlist, creating a chilled-out vibe. The whole room smells faintly of sunscreen and the outdoors, augmented by a coconut-scented candle or two to create a feeling of endless summer, even on a gloomy day.
Golden Boy
On the morning of 1 January 2025, Auggie woke up to discover (much to his surprise) that his skin suddenly had streaks and patches of glittering iridescent gold all over it. After a couple of goes through the shower and double checking to ensure he hadn't woken up with one of the dancers, it became apparent that this was magical and seemingly permanent. Well, it's mostly permanent: the patterns shift whenever he's in the water. Auggie doesn't mind it at all. It's fricking cool!
Echo is a spirit familiar in the form of a graceful great blue heron. He appeared not long after magic first emerged on the islands, and he quickly took a liking to Auggie, following him wherever he went. Before long, the two formed a close bond, and they’ve been inseparable ever since. It’s not unusual to see Echo gliding effortlessly above Auggie’s ferry, tracing its path across the water. When the ferry stops, Echo perches nearby, watching the shoreline for his next catch.
While Auggie’s free-spirited nature often makes him the life of the party, Echo represents a more thoughtful, reflective aspect of his personality, balancing Auggie’s whirlwind of energy with his calm, stalwart presence. Whether they're staying up all night to watch the sunrise over the lake, spending long, lazy hours fishing at the water’s edge, or simply appreciating the natural rhythm of life on the islands, Echo reminds Auggie to find his zen.
Bubbles is a spirit that takes the form of an energetic river otter. He's the second out of Auggie's three familiars, and like The Godfather Part II or The Empire Strikes Back he would probably lay claim to being the best of the trilogy. He's a regular sight on Auggie's ferry, where he will often be found scampering up and down the deck or attempting to "help" with the mooring ropes whenever they're trying to dock.
Of Auggie's animal buddies, Bubbles is the one he spends the most time with on a day-to-day basis, and is the one friends and tourists are more likely to have an interaction with. Wherever Auggie goes, Bubbles isn’t far behind - usually leaving a trail of (relatively) harmless chaos in his wake. At other times, you might find Bubbles and Auggie floating lazily on the water and soaking up the sun together.
Moose is a spirit that takes the form of a slightly oversized brown bear and is the most visually striking of Auggie's various familiars. He's so large, in fact, that he has absolutely no trouble carrying Auggie around on his back, and it's not uncommon to find them charging (or sometimes just plodding) around Crescent Island together. He's certainly got the potential to be fearsome, but overall, he much prefers belly rubs and falling asleep in a sunny spot.
Moose was the last of Auggie's three spirit familiars to find him, and it certainly caused a lot of commotion at first to see him wandering around the island. Auggie has (mostly!) taught him not to go rooting through people's trash cans these days. However, that doesn't stop some of the friendlier Crescent Island residents from slipping him the occasional treat! When the snacks dry up, you can often spot him down by the lake shore looking for a tasty fish to catch.
Muddy is one of Auggie's animal buddies, but he's not a spirit in the shape of a turtle or even a familiar one; he is just a turtle that Auggie has had since he was a kid. He came to Spellbound with Auggie and his mom when they moved here and has lived here ever since! Since it is winter, Muddy is brumating in a box in Auggie's closet, waiting for the warmer weather to wake up again.
To be fair, though, even in the summer, Muddy doesn't exactly do a whole heck of a lot. He likes to lie under his heat lamp and eat various kinds of salad leaves and other veggies that Auggie feeds him. Occasionally, he will go for a little bit of a swim, but overall, Muddy is a pretty big fan of taking it eaaaasy and doing as little as possible. Auggie thinks that is a pretty chill way to be.

After long anticipation the excitement of Swan Lake has finally come to the ice. It is a story about Prince Siegfried's love for Odette, the Swan Queen, who was cursed by the sorcerer Baron von Rothbart. This story brings to us the prince's coming-of-age celebration, his encounter with Odette, and his attempt to break the spell on her, and absolutely no untoward hijinks from the surge of magic in the park- right? Oh no. We're certain it will be excellent.

Rolling on the River: His name isn’t Mary, but he keeps that big wheel turning! Auggie is a ferry pilot, ferrying guests and employees between the islands with a smoothness that only comes from someone who’s spent most of their life on the water. He runs a laid-back ship, and passengers can count on the loud music blasting from the boat’s speakers as he steers them across the lake. His narration over the PA is pure nonsense—think Jungle Cruise vibes—but people can’t help but laugh at his ridiculousness.
La Isla Bonita: Auggie's mom works for Visions of Wonder in a boring corporate job that requires her to be based on the island. They were one of the first families to move to the new housing on Crescent Island when it opened, and Auggie has seen the park take shape since the early days. Since then, the islands have become his home. He came of age here, and now, at 21, he’s not just a resident—he’s practically a fixture of the place. The island breezes might not be exactly tropical, but they are unusually mild for this latitude!
Under the Sea: Auggie’s motto is that life is most definitely better down where it’s wetter! He grew up by the beach in California, and even if the ocean is where he feels truly free, that doesn’t stop him from enjoying Lake Michigan as much as any beach lover would. He can most often be found splashing around in the water, even when the island’s chillier months hit. His California surfer-boy vibe is unmistakable, and he’s an accomplished surfer, paddleboarder, and swimmer. He’s rarely happier than when he’s in the water.
With a little help from my friends: Auggie hardly qualifies as a Disney Princess; no tragic backstory, for starters! What he does have, though, is a delightful trio of animal companions to make sure he's never entirely alone! Echo the Great Blue Heron is a quiet and reassuring presence, while Bubbles the Otter has a penchant for getting into mischief. Finally, Moose the Brown Bear, is a perfect companion for long afternoon naps and raiding the fridge.
August is a young man in his early twenties. He stands at about average height with an agile, lightly muscled build that suggests an active lifestyle. He's good-looking, with lightly tanned skin reflecting plenty of time spent outdoors in nature. His brown eyes are framed by dark brows that lend a thoughtful quality to his expression. However, what truly sets him apart is his striking mane of shoulder-length curly blond hair. It's unruly despite any attempts to tame it.
